Theropithecus brumpti is an extinct species of the genus Theropithecus.
This fossil primate is mostly known from skulls and mandibles found in Pliocene deposits excavated in the Shungura Formation,at the Omo River, Ethiopia. T. brumpti, like the extant gelada (T. gelada) is a species of baboon.[1]
Appearance
[edit]T. brumpti was a large, terrestrial primate, very similar in appearance to the gelada. An older male specimen found at Lomekwi,Kenya is estimate to weigh approximately 43.8 kilograms. [2]
