อาเรวาคัช
สัญลักษณ์แห่งความเป็นนิรันดร์ของอาร์มีเนีย (อาร์มีเนีย: հավերժության նշան, haverzhut’yan nshan; อังกฤษ: Armenian eternity sign) หรือ อาเรวาคัช (Արևախաչ, Arevakhach; "กางเขนพระอาทิตย์") เป็นสัญลักษณ์ประจำชาติอาร์มีเนียและเครื่องหมายแสดงอัตลักษณ์ประจำชาติ ของชาวอาร์มีเนีย[1] ปรากฏเป็นสัญลักษณ์หนึ่งที่พบทั่วไปในสถาปัตยกรรมอาร์มีเนีย[2][3] แกะสลักบน คัชการ์ และผนังของคริสต์ศาสนสถาน
ในวัฒนธรรมอาร์มีเนียยุคกลาง สัญลักษณ์นี้สื่อแทนชีวิตที่เป็นนิรันดร์บนสวรรค์ (everlasting, celestial life)[4] นับตั้งแต่คริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 5 พบปรากฏบนจารึกและในสัญลักษณ์วิทยาของ คัชการ์ [5] จนกระทั่งราวคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 8 ได้กลายมาเป็นสัญลักษณ์เชิงภาพของดินแดนอาร์มีเนีย[6] และยังคงความหมายดั้งเดิมมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน[7]
ArmSCII และยูนิโคด
[แก้]ใน ArmSCII หรือระบบแลกเปลี่ยนรหัสและข้อมูลมาตรฐานอาร์มีเนีย (Armenian Standard Code for Information Interchange) มีปรากฏสัญลักษณ์นี้เข้ารหัส (encoded) ในรูปมาตรฐาน 7 และ 8 บิต มาตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1987 เป็นอย่างน้อย และในปี ค.ศ. 2010 ได้เสนอสัญลักษณ์ต่อยูนิโคด[8] ทั้งสัญลักษณ์แบบหันออกทางซ้ายและทางขวา ปรากฏในยูนิโคดรุ่น 7.0 ซึ่งเผยแพร่ในเดือนมิถุนายน ค.ศ. 2014[9]

The circle, as a line returning upon itself, represented perfection. Having neither beginning, nor end, it was the symbol of eternity. The architects expressed the concept of everlasting, celestial life in the knowledge of the presence and effect of the divine power by sphere.
