Alexei Ivanovich Abrikosov (Russian: Алексей Иванович Абрикосов; February 20 [March 3], 1824 — January 31 [February 13], 1904) was a Russian entrepreneur, manufacturer, who founded in the second half of the 19th century Factory and Trade Association Abrikosov's son (now the concern Babayevsky),[1] as well as the owner of confectionery and tea shops in Moscow, Supplier of His Imperial Majesty's Court, chairman of the board of Accounts Bank, an active state adviser.[2]

According to one version, the first creator of Kinder Surprise.[3][4][5]

Biography

Alexei Abrikosov was born in 1824 in Moscow. Alexey's family created sweets for sale. Mostly apricot jam and apricot paste. Hence the surname. The Apricots also made gingerbread and sweets.[6]

Alexei studied at a prestigious trade educational institution – the Practical Academy of Commercial Sciences. He has not completed his studies.[6]

He was an employee until he was 23, then he started his own business.[6]

Alexei Abrikosov was a benefactor of Moscow. During the Crimean War, he made donations to hospitals. With the help of his money, the church of Elijah the Prophet was rebuilt in the village of Izvarino near Moscow, and a parish school appeared there.[6]

Abrikosov died in 1904 in Moscow. He is buried in the cemetery of the Alekseevsky Monastery. The cemetery has been devastated.[6]

Family

In 1849 he married the daughter of Alexander Musatov (a major Moscow confectioner and perfumer). They had 10 sons and 12 daughters.[6]
