Rupert James Hector Everett (born May 29, 1959) is a British actor.

He was born in Norfolk, England, and educated at Ampleforth College. His height is 1.93 m (6' 4"). He is gay; though he has often been cast in gay roles, he has also played straight people. Before becoming an actor he worked as a prostitute in England (or, as he has referred to it, as a "rent boy".)

His first major film role was in Another Country (1984), as a gay schoolboy. Other movie appearances include Dance with a Stranger (1985), Chronicle of a Death Foretold (1987), The Madness of King George (1994), My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), Shakespeare in Love (1998), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999), The Next Best Thing (2000) and The Importance of Being Earnest (2002).

Besides his acting career, Everett has had some success as a novelist.
