Anthony Callea is an Australian Idol contestant. He is 21 years of age and comes from Melbourne, Victoria. His favourite singer is Lionel Ritchie and his favourite music styles are jazz, pop and R&B. His music idol is Brian McKnight.

Anthony Callea auditioned for Australian Idol in 2004, in Melbourne where he sang Wishes. He got positive feedback from all three judges and was put through to the next round. Although he made it onto the top 30 semifinals, he didn't secure enough votes to get through to the final 12, but he was later brought back on to the wildcard show by the judges and was selected by the judges to go through to the next round (top 12).

During his run on the show, he had several very memorable performances including Simon & Garfunkle's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and the Andrea Bocelli classic, "The Prayer," which was praised as being the best performance on the Idol stage in 2 years.

Anthony was voted into final two, and had been a favourite to win for much of the contest, but ultimately lost to Casey Donovan in the final.

He has since been signed by BMG to release an album in the New Year.
