The Gutenberg Galaxy: The Making of Typographic Man is a book written by Marshall McLuhan first published in 1962. The Gutenberg Galaxy, named for Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of printing, is the universe of all books ever published.


As an estimate of the size of the Gutenberg Galaxy, the British Library claims that it holds over 150 million items. The Library of Congress claims that it holds approximately 119 million items.
