Antonio Enrique Álvarez (b. May 10, 1979 in Caracas, Venezuela, best known as Tony Alvarez (AL-vah-rez), is a Major League Baseball outfielder and right-handed batter who plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Alvarez was signed by Pittsburgh as an amateur free agent in 1995 and made his debut in 2002. At 25, he is considered one of the top ten Pirates prospects both by Baseball America and ESPN.

In one season with the Pirates, Alvarez batted for .308, with one home run, two runs batted in, six runs scored, two doubles and one stolen base.
