I am an Australian male punk and nerd of legal age. I live in Ballarat. I enjoy reading, philosophising, trying to change the world, music, Wikipedia and internet forums.
Objectives for Wikipedia
- To have recognised on Wikipedia the accepted meaning of pop-punk within the punk scene.
- To reach NPOV and accepted definitions of bands with controversial genre labels (Such as My Chemical Romance and Green Day).
- Improvement of articles surrounding goth and gothic rock.
- Inclusiveness in articles surrounding punk - crust punks have little in common with fans of pop-punk in the style of Screeching Weasel, and the articles should include all major punk factions. Oy vey.
Topics of Interest or Knowledge
Music
My tastes include primarily punk rock and post-punk. I like anything from the Dead Boys to The Damned to the Descendents to Dead Kennedys to Discharge to Doom to Devo. I also enjoy funk, particularly Zapp, Parliament/Funkadelic and the Go-Go band Trouble Funk (I need to see about getting them an article). I also enjoy reggae, dub music and ska, epsecially two-tone, and heavy metal, primarily fist-wave bands like Black Sabbath, but also Motörhead and slow, heavy doom metal bands like Pentagram and Saint Vitus. I am also a fan, in a boader sense, of alternative rock and alternative metal.
