This is a proposed clean up of various "Ghost fleet" and "Reserve fleet" articles. Various merger discussions have been on their talk pages for years. This is mostly concerned with the various US Navy and MARAD facilities, but the proposed framework should work for any countries' reserve fleets.

Proposal

Track down existing related article names.

Track down the current official names of the various reserve and inactive fleets in the US, use as primary article titles. Find any historical names and make them redirects. Possibly break out each fleet site to own article with list?

Ghost fleet becomes a generic article (with links to specific fleets), and includes a (hopefully neutral) discussion of the environmental concerns.

Existing Article Mess (is that too POV?)

New/Revised Articles

Open Issues

  • How do Prepositioned ships (Diego) fit in with ISMF/NDRF/RRF? Apparently they don't, except for being under MSC like RRF.
  • Redoing links to Ghost fleet that really wanted James River or Suisun Bay. Is this a good enough reason to break those fleets out to their own articles?
