CBS/Fox Video was a home video company formed in 1982 and established in 1983. The company was a merger between 20th Century Fox Video, formerly Magnetic Video Corporation, and CBS Video Enterprises.

The company was based in Farmington Hills, Michigan until 1985, when it moved to Livonia, Michigan. In 1989, it moved its headquarters to New York City.

CBS/Fox released the film library of 20th Century Fox, in addition to the film libraries of United Artists, ABC Pictures, Associated Film Distributors, CBS Theatrical Films (many of the titles had been previously issued through CBS Video's 1979-1982 partnership with MGM), TV shows owned by CBS, and in 1984, CBS/Fox became the American licensee of BBC Video products. The United Artists films consisted mainly of older titles, plus newer films from the James Bond series. Most other UA films were issued through MGM/UA Home Video beginning in 1984. In 2002, Fox Entertainment Group acquired CBS/Fox Video and the rest of CBS/Fox's non-shopping (film and TV) assets, and renamed CBS/Fox Video back to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Also, CBS/Fox concluded most of the TriStar Pictures library from 1984-1988, while others have been released through RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video and HBO Home Video.

CBS/Fox used speciality labels for children's videos, music videos, and sports videos. In addition, CBS/Fox maintained two other labels, Key Video ('art' and B films) and Playhouse Video (children's films and programs). Both titles became inactive by 1990, though 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has since reactivated the Key Video label.

In 1990, a reorganization of the company was made, with most mainstream Fox titles being turned over to the new Fox Video that appeared in 1991. However, CBS/Fox remained active for distribution of BBC Video product and other non-Fox products.

The company ceased full operations in 1998, with the release of Our Friend Martin. A short time later, CBS' merger with Viacom was finalized, and the CBS/Fox partnership ceased existence.

Many CBS/Fox titles are out of print, or have been reissued under different labels:

Logos

And this logo was from summer 1983. And, over a white background, we see before us a dual set of blue lines, stacking upward, and downward. And, then 6 long objects pop in, and at the top, and bottom of the segmented-lines, revealing the words, "CBS FOX", then the word "video" pops in below "FOX". And, this 2nd logo was from fall 1983 to summer1984. And on an orange background, 2 grids are moving, from the top, and bottom of the screen, converging in the center of the screen, and "CBS" comes from the top at an angle, and with "FOX" coming from the bottom at an angle. And, the bacground turns into blue, and "CBS", and "FOX", right themselves in the center of the screen. And, the letters of the word "VIDEO" fly in from the bottom-center, of the screen 1 at a time. And this logo was from 1984 to 1998. And, in a blue & boxed-area, we see a mirrored, twin stair-like texture, that shines a lot. And the "stairs" rotate, counter-clockwise, and turn out to be the following text, in blue, with a segmented-line between the 2 words, and on a black marble background: "CBS FOX", and then, the word "video" shines in below "FOX", and the whole logo shines with pride.

Key Video

On a shady gray background, 2 3-D elongated shapes and a cylinder flip towards the screen. And the shapes align together, forming the outline of a key, as the 3-D words, "KEY VIDEO", zooms out below. And, the logo "shines" and turns colorful, and the top half was blue, and the circle part was red, and the bottom-half was pink. And the "KEY VIDEO" words are a shade of pink, and white, and blue. And this logo was from 1983 to 1991.

Playhouse Video

On a white background, we see a black dot, sketching a round snow-globe outline. And then, it draws another round followed by outlines of a tree, and neighborhood with house, and a sun, and apples on a tree, and a window on the house. And, the outlines fill with a rainbow-color hue, and the words "PLAYHOUSE VIDEO" appear below via a "wiping" effect. And this logo was from 1983 to 1991.
