Joan Jett
Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin on September 22, 1958 (or 1960 according to some sources)) is a rock and roll guitarist and singer.
Career and Biography
She was born in Philadelphia, but moved with her family to Hollywood, California at a young age.
She first gained attention as the guitarist, main songwriter and occasional singer in the pioneering all-women band The Runaways, known for pre-punk hard rock and the classic song "Cherry Bomb."
After the Runaways disbanded in 1980, she produced an album for Los Angeles punk band, The Germs, then embarked on a solo career, having hits with "I Love Rock N' Roll" and covers of Tommy James' "Crimson and Clover" and Gary Glitter's "Do You Wanna Touch Me". She co-starred in the 1986 film Light of Day, and starred as Columbia in a Broadway revival of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
