Cleanup Task Force

I aceept the task. You should see it cleaned up soon. --Activision45 05:05, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Activision45[reply]

Archives

Archive for November 28, 2004 through June 17, 2006 now at User talk:RJFJR/Archive1

I went through, changed a couple of things, and added missing article information. The only thing that I think still really needs to be fixed is that there were (I think three) unsourced statements I thought were particularly notablem so I added fact tags to them. But if you're okay with those still in the article, then you can take it off of the cleanup taskforce list. Sophy's Duckling 00:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Foundry Model

Looks fine, history seems a little long. Computerjoe's talk 16:20, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bill James

I'll check the status of the new one you gave me. As for Bill James, the article looked fine to me. It lacks sources but honestly, I'm not sure that's something I can help with. I'm fuzzy on all of that. --Woohookitty(meow) 22:21, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would be more than happy to take on this task, however I will not be able to make any substantial contributions to Wikipedia for the next two weeks during school holidays (I don't have Internet at home...). But, after such time I will be more than happy to fix it. I've given it a brief look-over and believe it is a series of stubs compiled into an article. Should be able to expand upon it dramatically - assuming it's real and I can find some info on it :-) David P. A. Hunter

Wooden Spoons

Hey there, the colloquialism of the "wooden spoon" refers to when a team finishes their season in last position in a competition of some kind. So the number of Wooden Spoons a team has is the number of times they've come last. "Wooden Spoon" is a term known to most fans of the sport, in addition it's a short way to note that a team finished last that can fit in a small infobox.

Yeah, I forgot that existed. I don't really have time for that anymore, so...find someone else, I guess. Someoneinmyheadbutit'snotme 22:28, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The thing about this song and all the other songs on the album is that they each contain a great deal of sampled music and lyrical references, and I thought it'd be a good idea to log them all incase someone with an interest in the album wanted the information. I'm going to be expanding the information about the making of the album soon, I just have to get some more information. And yes, the samples are what you thought they were. Cleanup Taskforce: John of Nepomuk

Hi, Was just looking at the article. Made a few changes so far.

Im just wondering if we would be able to get someone to do a czech to english translation of it, and then i would be happy to go through and get the english more standardised.

What would we have to do to get that done?

Cleanup taskforce

Thanks for assigning Doping at the Tour de France to my desk. Cycling is not really my strong point so I can't improve the article further. Sorry. - Nick C 13:57, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Desk

Oh god, I forgot i had that... Well then... time to do a little bit of cleanup. Help if you have time :-) Thanks! Sasquatch t|c 15:42, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Taskforce

I added The Killam Trusts to your desk. It's not literature but it is Canadian. Please take a look at it and either accept it or let me know and I'll reassign it. RJFJR 13:55, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks ok to me however it does need some wiki cleanup and additional links and minor stuff. There are several article categories and links it could be associated with. Shall I clean it up or shall you take it from here? WayneRay 20:03, 3 July 2006 (UTC)WayneRay[reply]
I just added some links and a link to the Canada Council and took off the cleanup link, I will however strongly suggest you oput in the ISBN numbers for the two books you had as reference. Thanks WayneRay 20:11, 3 July 2006 (UTC)WayneRay[reply]

Doping at the Tour de France article

I'll take the case. Should be done by end of week (normaly sooner but Independence Day may slow me down a bit).--Joe Jklin (T C) 20:03, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dysphrenia and Topenga

I'll have a look at tardive dyskinesia. Topanga, California is ready to close. Honestly, I didn't really need to do anything to it. Kerowyn 04:03, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

No thanks, I am just cleaning up poetry and history related articles right now. WayneRay 15:45, 7 July 2006 (UTC)WayneRay[reply]

Sorry, I'll pass, I'm working on another article. Zoo Tycoon can be expanded more. Bibliomaniac15 02:33, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Taskforce

Thanks for assigning North Queensland Cowboys to my desk. The article looks ok now (since it was nominated for cleanup), with not much to add. I'll have a look at it, but don't expect significant improvement. Thanks. - Nick C 12:14, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you assign the article to someone else please, I could not find much more information to add. - Nick C 17:26, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be kept open for more work, but assign to someone else. - Nick C 10:45, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm no longer working on this. And no, I didn't complete it either. I have a habit of not completing things =) In this case I'm about to take 8 months leave of the country... jnothman talk 14:27, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Cleanup Taskforce assignment

Hi RJFJR!

I'm sorry, but I'm no longer an active participant in the cleanup taskforce. I never got around to deleting my desk.

Please reassign it, and I'm sorry for any confusion. Linuxbeak (AAAA!) 17:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hi! Thanks very much for setting up my desk properly, it is much appreciated, it was driving me crazy I couldn't seem to get it to work right. Do I still have to accept the English Heritage article I assigned to myself? Paul75 23:34, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Taskforce Desk

Hey...I'll check out the Blondie page, but can you please reassign Howard Bloom? I think I looked at it some time before and couldn't work on it (don't remember why). — Ilyanep (Talk) 16:54, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blondie

Thanks for message, yes I'll take on the Blondie (band) page if it's still available. Can you advise me if what I am doing wrong when creating the taskforce subpage for articles?? Doesn't seem to be working for me! user:Paul75

I have been fortunate twice to find images, one for Ice T and one for Bridget Moyanhan, to replace images of questionable use. Each time I corresponded with the photographer, and received his/her permission to upload the image. My question, after hours of trying to make sense of image copyright tags, is what is the tag to use in this case - the copyright holder permits me to upload the image. --Dumarest 19:41, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup TaskForce

Hi, wow i forgot all about CTF!! Been very busy with other things. I can take the video scalar task but unfortunately not the Jack Sparrow one.

I would love to take that second one as Im a big fan of the films but I just don't have time to copyedit and research an article of that size well enough. Although I will have a quick browse through today and see if theres anything obvious I can redo.

What is the process for rejecting a case and reassigning it, or are you ok to do that? -- Errant  talk(formerly tmorton166) 09:03, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A word of thanks

Thanks for the task. I can see you're busy giving out assignments and whatnot, so I'll hop to it!--The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 13:55, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

magazine covers not public domain nor GPL nor ...

The images on magazine covers are created, and so are copyrightable. the copyright is held by the creator/photographer/designer or more likely by the magazine which commissioned the work. At least that's a fair summary of the US situation.

As for Fair Use, this is a somewhat sloppy and ill defined thing, only rinally decidable after all the relevant courts examine the debris on the court room floor after a squabble. Or an agreement between a copyright holder and a would be Fair Use user. There is a presumption that parody, breif extracts in a review, or somewhat more in an academic study are all fair use. Fair dealing is the term in the UK and several other places.s

So, I would be cautious about your statement (on the user page) that seems to imply they are. ww 22:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lines through box

Hi, I encountered your edit to .. eh .. well, the case where you made level 3 headings where they were 'supposed' to be level 2 headings. I reverted that edit, but I noticed at that moment, that indeed the lines go through the box (and I use Opera 9.00.8502, i.e. one of the latest). I then ignored it, thought it was an Opera thingy, or just a random error. But it seems to be something in the heading of that particular box. I replaced it with a Template:Chembox (using {{subst:Chembox}}), and moved the data from the old box to the new one .. now the problem is gone. It is going to be quite a task replacing those all, I might do a WP:AWB-run on all chemicals and see if I can somehow automatically convert these (might be difficult). But cheers for pointing it out. --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:56, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help request for logging in

Dear RJFJR: You were my greeter on April 22 when I was a Wiki newbie. What a difference a few months make. I have since created a couple of articles near the top of Google searches for that subject (perhaps more usual than not, I admit) and edited many more articles.

Yesterday something odd happened. When I prepared to Save the edit, Wiki said that I was not logged in. I tried to log in using my User name and password. The message was that I had successfully logged in, but the top line far righthand side of my Wiki portal indicated otherwise: log out. I tried getting a new password, which was received within seconds via email. It made no difference. Same thing today. I conclude that I am blocked from fully logging on. The "fully" refers to that my Wiki portal says "log out". (I have received no communications recently on my discussion page.) Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Or can you refer me to someone for assistance? My thanks.

One other detail and possible explanation: When I originally registered, Wiki responded by email, noting my IP address. With the change in passwords on July 22 and again yesterday Aug. 3, the Wiki email response noted that I had an IP address different from mine. It's where my User name (Thomasmeeks) should be in the present message. I had assumed that the discrepancy was a Wiki assignment. But I'm wondering if the discrepancy might be responsible for blocking my fully logging on. 66.16.69.222 20:25, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Odd, you have signed this with an IP address indicating you are not logged on, but the message "log out" at the upper right hand corner is where you click to log out and should only be shown if you ARE logged in. (Note that it says "log out" not "logged out"). If it lists your user name the the top right hand section then it knows who you are and you are logged in.
You may get more information at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). RJFJR 20:47, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I have lapsed into Sign in status yesterday & today in edit efforts after attempting to log in, possibly an unrelated problem that I conflated with log-in status. Thx for your help & reference. At least my User name is back. Thomasmeeks 21:35, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check out my talk page. You gave me information about this some time age, passing on material from Omegatron. I have tried several times to get to him for discussion/information, without success. Where should I go for that purpose. Thank you for all the help you have give, and the time I have cost you. --Dumarest 19:06, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I found out. On the discussion page of his page. Seems now logical, but it took a while to open my eyes. --Dumarest 19:24, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've undone your merge of this article to Celebration of Light because the latter is but one of a number of such events, and isn't even the original. Celebration of Light is specific to Vancouver, and has nothing to do with the others, except for sharing some history from a previous sponsor. I'll re-work this article to reflect current affairs. Mindmatrix 17:52, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. Both Symphony of Fire and Celebration of Light were listed for cleanup and I encountered them almost one after the other. There's a question about Symphony being verified for Cape Town and I thought they were the same entry. Thank you for correcting my merge. RJFJR 05:03, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vague theory

Hi! I've seen you around in the articles that are tagged "cleanup by month." I'm sure you have also noticed the truly epic number of articles that are listed for cleanup. Most of these article only require a bit of work before the tag can be removed. I was thinking that perhaps we could start actively recruiting people to take care of some of these articles, specifically those people who are already listed as Cleanup Taskforce members. Like the title says, this is only a vague idea, but if it helps reduce the workload, it might be worth a shot. Please let me know what you think. --Kerowyn Leave a note 06:13, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
