Layla El (born June 25, 1978 in London, England) is a professional wrestling diva of English and Moroccan heritage currently working for WWE on their SmackDown! brand after winning the 2006 WWE Diva Search. She was raised, and currently resides in Miami, Florida, where she worked as a dancer for the NBA's Miami Heat. She has also danced for Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards. Layla is the winner of the 2006 WWE Diva Search.

Diva Search
In the 2006 $250,000 WWE Diva Search Layla won one-week's worth of immunity on the July 14 (taped July 11), edition of Friday Night SmackDown! when she won Sgt. Slaughter 's "Diva Boot Camp" obstacle course. She is said to have jumped over the tire hop section of the course instead of going through it and to have not had both of her feet cross the finish line due to her doing a split, but she got immunity none the less. She won another competition, the "Diva Search Talent Show", on the August 11th edition of SmackDown!, when she did a dance dressed as a police officer. She won the 2006 Diva Search in a special aired on the USA Network on August 16, 2006.
Layla made her first "official" WWE appearance at the 2006 SummerSlam in a backstage segment with several other Divas during which they initially taunted and teased her before revealing that it was all in "fun" and part of an "initiation" of sorts. Following this they dragged her into the showers fully clothed spanking her and laughing.
Smackdown!
The week after SummerSlam Layla made her SmackDown! debut in an interview with Mike "The Miz" Mizanin. However, instead of allowing her a chance to speak, Mizanin used the time to hype his upcoming in-ring SmackDown! debut.
