The Christian Council of Britain (CCB) claims to be "an independent, non-political organisation autonomous of any political party in Britain". It was set up by members and supporters of the British National Party (BNP) and has been accused of being a front organization for the party. A whois lookup on 23 March 2006 listed the registrant of the URL christiancouncil.org.uk as Steve Blake, also the name of the BNP's "web editor".[1] The Observer reported on April 16, 2006 that Clive Potter, a leading member of the BNP, will be the president of the CCB. [2]. Rev. Robert West, a Conservative district councillor and a 'founding member' of the Christian Council of Britain defected to the BNP in May 2006 [3].

The Christian Council of Britain has been criticised by a number of mainstream British Christian organisations who claim that 'Christian belief is incompatible with any political party or philosophy that is based on hatred or treats people as inferior because of their race, beliefs or for any other reason.' and argues against the CCB's theological views on separation of races[4].
