My Wave is low-profile grunge song written by influential Seattle rock band Soundgarden. It appeared on the group's 1994 album Superunknown, and was released as a single in Australia, accompanied by a video largely consisting of performance footage.

The song also appears on the 1996 MOM (Music For Our Mother Ocean) compilation to benefit the Surfrider Foundation and even showed up a couple of years ago in the trailer for Endless Summer II. The video for "My Wave" was filmed live in Calgary, Canada and was put together by Henry Shepherd.

Musical Influences and Qualities

My Wave as a musical piece is very typical of Soundgarden's style. Predominantly in 5|4, a particularly irregular time signature for rock music, the song changes and intersperses time signatures freely and the effect created is both authoritively erratic and characteristic of the band, even classically so. The song also regularly interchanges the keys of E minor and B Mixolydian.
