Chikyu Sentai Fiveman
Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman (地球戦隊ファイブマン, Chikyū Sentai Faibuman), translated as Earth Squadron Fiveman, was the TOEI Company production and the 14th entry of Sentai series. It aired on TV Asahi from March 2, 1990 to February 8, 1991, with a total of 48 episodes.
Plot
In 1970, Doctor Hoshikawa was researching how to transform the planet Sedon into a green, lush world, testing it by attempting to grow flowers. On the day the first flower bloomed, the Zone empire assault on the planet, he and his wife were separated from their five children. Arthur G6 took the five children back to Earth and raised them. 20 years later, the five are now teachers in the same school. The Zone empire now prepares to invade Earth as its thousandth target and as they begin the attack, three vehicles appear and counter the offensive, five warriors descend from the vehicles and confront Zone. The Hoshikawa siblings have been developing the Fiveman technology and training hard upon the possibility of Zone invading Earth. Now the five siblings are ready to battle with the familiar foes as Fiveman. After defeating the Zone empire, the Fivemen departed Earth to recover their stranded parents.

Five siblings (three brothers and two sisters), separated from their parents during a Zone attack, sent to board a ship along with Arthur G6 to be raised and learn of the Fiveman technology.
- Gaku Hoshikawa (星川学 Hoshikawa Gaku) / Five Red (ファイブレッド Faibureddo) : He is the eldest and leader of the team. Science teacher skilled in kendo. he was 7 at the time of the Zone's attack on Sidon. Calm and responsable, he had the task of raising his four siblings along with Arthur G6, making him not just a big brother but also a leader and a parental figure. Out of fear, fired a gun at Garoa's face, scarring him, creating a rivalry. Even though a reliable and brave leader, he has a major weakness with the supernatural.

- Ken Hoshikawa (星川健 Hoshikawa Ken) / Five Blue (ファイブブルー Faibuburuu): The second born. Physical education teacher skilled in judo. The subleader of Fiveman. He is extremely passionate in everything he does, relies more in the body combat than in weapons. Even tought one of his students the meaning of courage by defeating a foe without transforming.
- Fumiya Hoshikawa (星川文矢 Hoshikawa Fumiya) / Five Black (ファイブブラック Faibuburakku) : The fourth born and twin brother of Remi. Japanese teacher skilled in karate. He has a wide range knowledge of various languages, even alien ones. Despite this, he tends to be childish and reckless. He and Remi were only 1 year old during the attack on Sidon, therefore they continuously suffer for not remembering their parent's faces.

Calm and intelligent, she can analyze and calculate with her "computer like" brain. She was 3 years old at the time of the attack on Sidon and remembers nothing but fear which she had to overcome to do battle with Zone as an adult. Protective and caring, she is a maternal figure to her younger siblings.

She has excellent rhythm and musical sense, she is also a rhythmic gymnast and dancer, which she applies to her fighting. He teaches kids kung-fu in her spare time. In episode 4, she got drunk when water was turned into alcohol.

Allies
- Arthur G6 (アーサージーシックス Aasaa Jii Shikkusu): A support robot created by Dr. Hoshikawa, raised orphans into warriors on Earth. He usually aids Fiveman from the Magmabase but at times he can fly out from base and transform into Earth Cannon.
- Gunther (グンサー Gunsā): A mysterious warrior who was helped by Doctor Hoshikawa and his wife when severely injured. He stole the Star Carrier ship and came to Earth. At his arrival he fought the Fiveman but eventually could make friends with Gaku. Then he gave them back the Star Carrier and helped on numerous occasions, ultimately dying near the finale. He was also known as "Raging Wolf of the Galaxy".
Silver Imperial Army Zone (銀帝軍ゾーン, Ginteigun Zoon)
An alien army plotting to rule the entire Milky Way, it flies across universe attacking worlds with its Galactic Warriors. Earth will be its 1,000th destroyed planet, at which point Medor will gain eternal life. They operate from their ship Vulgyre and can send smaller battle ships called Vulgols. They use the galactic currency Dolyen which is said to be equal to 100 earth yens.
- Galactic Super Beast Vulgyre (銀河超獣バルガイヤー Ginga Chōjū Barugaiyā): The true ruler of Zone. Even though being a living organism, he operated as the Zone headquarters, Galactic Ship Vulgyre for some reasons and how he does it is unclear. Assuming using a simulation of a dead alien woman named Medor namely the face, who he was in love with and killed for refusing him, Vulgyre gave orders to Zone with that hologram. When the 1,000th planet is destroyed, he gains eternal life but he hid that in the personality of Empress Medor, with the Zone Empire troopers only knew when Five Red revealed that their battleship was a living organism, and that he all fooled them. He coveted the energy of Shubalie's death at the hands of Five Red in order to begin his metamorphosis from Galactic Ship to Galactic Super Beast. He destroyed Max Magma with remarkable ease. The Sidon Flowers are his weakness, using them the Fivemen weakened him and was ultimately destroyed by the Super Five Robo in the finale.
- Galactic Empress Medor (銀河皇帝メドー Gingatei Medō): White-skinned, silver-maned, purple-lipped, golden-eyed mystery ruler of the Zone Empire. She is only seen to be the face of a woman surrounded by a silver mane that appears from the sky and she is extremely powerful. She seeks to devour life from planets and when the 1,000th is destroyed by her, she will gain eternal life. Later on, she appeared in reddish format, far more angry and later proclaimed that Vulgyre was the most powerful in the Universe. It's later revealed that she was just an illusion giving orders to the Zone Troopers created by Vulgyre, the true ruler of Zone and the her power source. The real Medor was a powerful woman who Vulgyre was in love with and that was killed after she refused to be with him.
- Captain Garoa (ガロア艦長 Garoa-kanchō): The captain of Vulgyre in black and gray armor over red clothes, armed with a sword. He got scarred by Five Red as a child creating a rivalry between them. An expert swordsman, he gave problems even to Gaku, with his special technique "Taifuu Shaken" (Typhoon Spinning Sword). Although a field commander, he would not show up much in fight, giving orders from Medor to the others. The continuing failures and the arrival of Shubalie eventually caused Garoa's dismissal. Having been assigned the janitor post of Vulgyre, He eventually found a secret energy source in the Vulgyre which he used on a Gorlin, creating the "Big Garoan" which he destroyed Super Five Robo, giving him the Captain position back. Even though he tried the hardest to succeed in his plans and, along Dongoros, was the last survivor of Zone, Garoa found his demise trapped in the coffin of Medor, with his armor destroyed, in the middle of burning Dolyen bills as Vulgyre exploded in the series finale.
- Big Three: They somewhat are the triumverate of the Empire. They are the ones who serve as the field commanders of the Zone Empire. Each one of them has a unique personality.
- Galactic Swordsman Billion (銀河剣士ビリオン Ginga Kenshi Birion): He is probably the best swordsman in the galaxy white-maned in white armor over blue tights. Lover of liquor and swords, he is a sadistic left-handed warrior who enjoys fighting as well as terms of scheming. When he finds an even minimally weaker foe, he challenges to battle and defeats him. He would not hesitate to execute a plan even at the cost of a comrade's welfare. He is scheming and manipulative, most of the time using others to accomplish his goals. This can be seen in the different types of monsters and strategies he chose in contrast to Dordora and Dongoros. After being witness to Doldora's death, He challenged Five Red to a sword fight, ultimately losing. This battle is said to be one of the best scenes in the series where he is killed singlehandedly by Five Red.
- Galactic Scientist Dordora (銀河博士ドルドラ Ginga Hakase Dorudora): Scientist and weapons researcher of Vulgyre in gold scorpion-like armor over black tights, she is more of a strategist, although she also has high combat levels. Having a gift for disguise as well, she even fooled Fumiya once posing as a cute girl. She is much less violent than Billion and Dongoros but no less evil. She prefers to let Zaza, her underling, do most of her battles, dirty work i.e. beat up the Fivemen and uses subtle tactics and deceitful monsters (like the Mantins Monster) in her steed over strong ones as she believes brains work better. After knowing Vulgyre's true identity, Doldora was fused with Zaza by him to become BaradolGin (Rose-Dol-Gin) to defeat the Fivemen and destroy the Sidon flowers (Vulgyre's only weakness) in the New Town School but was destroyed by the Fivemen.
- Galactic Merchant Dongoros (銀河商人ドンゴロス Ginga Shōnin Dongorosu): Grotesque, short, fat space merchant who enjoys making money (Dolyen bills) and carries an abacus. He prefers to use brute force (which can be seen in his choice of monsters) to accomplish the job much like Monster in Bioman and Zulten in Turboranger, but at times he would use subtle tactics as well when necessary like using the "voodoo monster" to subtly defeat Five Black but was backfired. In the finale, succumbing to his ambition, Dongoros was killed in the explosion of Vulgyre as he was desperately packing all the Dolyens he could before fleeing as a victim of his own greed.
- Fang of the Galaxy Zaza (銀河の牙ザザ Ginga no Kiba Zaza): Doldora's underling and loyal bodyguard in black tights with purple armor. Zaza was turned into a cyborg by Doldora when just born and swore absolute servitude to her. She used to operate along Billion at times. She is rivals with Remi. She does most of Doldora's dirty work i.e. beat up the Fivemen and doesn't question her mistress at all. Attempting to shield Doldora, She was merged with her mistress to form BaradolGin in a desperate attempt to defeat the Fiveman siblings.
- First Captain Shubalie (初代艦長シュバリエ Shodai Kanchō Shubarie): He claimed to be Vulgyre's first captain but ironically younger-looking than Garoa suggesting he might be gifted. He had been gone and was operating alone when he heard of Zone's struggle in Earth and returned. Eventually takes over captaincy after Garoa is dismissed, becoming Five Red's rival as well as Garoa's. He controls a black Gorlin. This self proclaimed "Hero of the Galaxy" enjoys music and has sword abilities that surpass even those of Garoa's as well has his tactics which she shows up in battle more often. He is scheming and sadistic as well as cool and even humorous and shows more often than Garoa does making him quite similar to the short-lived Black Prince of Bioman. he uses extremely dangerous tactics against the Fiveman and makes their lives twice as miserable. In the finale, he challenges Five Red to a "Chain Deathmatch" in which an unbreakable chain would link them together until one of them died. He lost to Five Red and then Vulgyre revealed that he made Shubalie fight to death because he needed the "Energy of the most powerful death in the Galaxy" and deceived Shubalie in thinking it was Fiveman's deaths when it was really his that was needed.

- Galaxy Squadron Gingaman (銀河戦隊ギンガマン Ginga Sentai Gingaman): A comedic all male evil Squadron of five aliens who serve Shubalie. They have no relation whatsoever with 1998 series Seijuu Sentai Gingaman being bad guys. In the Philippines, dubbed as the Galaxy Men.

- Batzler Soldiers (バツラー兵 Batsurā Hei): Black-skinned grunts with orange heads, armed with crab claws, bearing the Zone crest on their chests. They are also capable of disguising like the Mechaclones of Bioman. Galactic Ninja BatzlerGin is their leader. Their name comes from the "batsu" (cross) on their heads.
- Enlarging Beast Gorlin (巨大化獣ゴルリン Kyodaika Jū Gorurin): Giant white-skinned cyborg alien which absorbs and mimics the defeated Galactic Warriors. Even though, if the Galactic Warrior had completely died, the Gorlin will be able to mimic it. Each Gorlin has its serial number and there have been interesting cases: Gorlin no. 13 combined itself with the Galactic Plant Sidon Demon instead of absorbing the Galactic Warrior; Gorlin no. 12 fell down while running and could not reach KoumoriruGin (Bat-Gin) before it died, failing to enlarge it; Gorlin no. 36 was used by Garoa to create Big Garoan. Each Gorlin costs 10,000 Dolyen, considerably cheap given its dimensions.
- Black Gorlin (黒ゴルリン Kuro Gorurin): It appeared in episode 30. Shubalie controls it. Instead of being just an enlargement cyborg, it has been modified to be a battle-type so even without absorbing a Galactic Warrior, it is powerful enouth to fight the Five Robo. It has laser cannons on its shoulders and bears the Zone crest on its chest. It was destroyed in the finale by two consecutive Vector Punches from Super Five Robo at the same time that Shubalie fell against Five Red.
Galactic Warriors
The Galactic Warriors (銀河闘士, Ginga Tōshi) are alien monsters with appearances and abilities of earth animals. They are named after the animal they are based on + Gin.
- ???-Gin(4): Sent to pollute Earth's water, turning it into alcohol in a plan to get everyone too drunk to resist invasion by Zone. However, though it worked on the Fiveman team at first, the monster was beaten by FiveYellow's Drunken Kung Fu style.
- Batrugin (Koumorirugin): A bat-like Galactic Warrior
Combined Galactic Warriors (29-)
Garoa developed a power up item called Franken Capsule which let him combine two Galactic Warriors, making Combined Galactic Warriors (合身銀河闘士, Gasshin Ginga Tōshi) and giving the fused creature the attributes of the two species that compose it. The usual appearence of each monster are two freakishly have opposite halves on its body, sometimes creating balance problems for it.
Arsenal
- V-Changer: Fiveman's Morphers. Individual Fivemen transform by shouting out "Five (Color)!" while the gathered team shouts "Fiveman!" Gaku, Ken, and Fumiya have V-Changer Braces (wristband morphers). Kazumi, and Remi have V-Changer Compacts (necklace morphers).
- Hawk Arrows: Fivemen's motorcycles numbered 1 through 5. They reach speeds of 330 km/h and have Hawk Cannons.

- Each Fiveman is armed with a Five Blaster which transforms from a gun to a sword with a detechable Power Grip which can modify each Fiveman's assigned weapon(s):
- Five Red is armed with the V-Sword (shortens into V-Shuttler).
- Five Blue is armed with Twin Array (separates into Twin Frisbees, which shrink into Twin Yo-Yos).
- Five Black is armed with Power Cutter (fires Cutter Disks and transforms into Black Jaw).
- Five Pink is armed with Cutie Circle (transforms into the calculator-like Circle 'Puter).
- Five Yellow is armed with Melody Tact with a ribbon that ties enemies up. (becomes Yellow Flute).
- Five Tector: An armor developed by Ken composed of Shoulder Guards, Arm Shields, and Power Leggers. All this increases strength fivefold.
- Earth Cannon: When needed, Arthur would fly from Magma Base to the Fiveman and transform into Earth Cannon. The Fiveman shout "Ready!, Target Lock! FIRE!" and as Arthur shouts "Go!!" fires a 10,000 degree fire beam. Earth Cannon cannot be used if the five are not toghether.
- Super Five Ball: As Goranger's "Goranger Storm", Sun Vulcan's "Vulcan Ball" or Kakuranger's "Kakure Shoot", this weapons are ball-shaped bombs which the Fiveman pass to each other, storing energy and kicking them towards the enemy. The five members can finish this technique, not only Five Red.
- Brother Attack: This is the first finishing technique of the Fiveman. At the voice of Five Red saying "Sibling Warrior's Brother Attack!!", Five Yellow ties the enemy with the Melody Tact and the rest attack in order with their special weapon, finishing with a blow of Five Red's V-Sword.
- Five-kun Dolls: While watch TV, Fivemen must assist the plush dolls. The enemy of the dolls is Garoa. It appeared only in episode 23.
Mecha
- Five Robo/Five Trailer: It forms with Sky Alpha (piloted by Five Red), Land Gamma (piloted by Five Black and Five Yellow) and Carrier Beta (piloted by Five Blue and Five Pink) in a transformation called "Triple Joint". It is armed with Super Dimension Sword (Super Five Crash), Five Cannons & Twin Shotguns
- Sky Alpha: it can transform to a tractor cab when the Five Trailer is being formed. It has Alpha Lasers as weapons. It forms the head and body of Five Robo.
- Carrier Beta: It is armed with missiles. Forms the majority of the Five Trailer's trailer unit and Five Robo's legs (Five Black's half is the right, and Five Yellow's half, the left).
- Land Gamma: It is armed with Gamma Cannons. It forms the tail end of Five Trailer's trailer unit and Five Robo's arms (Five Blue's half is the right and Five Pink's half, the left).
- Star Carrier: This ship is built by Doctor Hoshikawa to use it when returning to Earth. It is stolen by Gunther but eventually given back to Fiveman. It can be ridden as a glider by Five Robo and all five Fivemen pilot it at times. It can transform to Star Five via "Star Round Transformation". The sides become the lower legs, with the landing wheels as the back. The rear of the underside forms the upper legs, the cockpit forms the shield, gun, and back, and the frontal underside becomes the arms. Its weapon is the Star Gun. It forms the helmet, body, arms and lower legs of Super Five Robo.
- Super Five Robo: It forms with Five Robo and Star Five by the "Super Brother Joint". It is armed with Jet Knuckles and its finishing attack is Super Vector Punch.
- Magmabase: The command center and living quarters of the Hoshikawas. Built by Doctor Hoshikawa, it was used to travel to Sidon and later to escape from there. It has a powerful defense system with multiple weapons.
- Max Magma: The combination of Super Five Robo and Magma Base by the "Max Cross Transformation". Its finishing attack is "Diamond Max" in which every single weapon on it fires at the same time. This robot, being primarily a base, cannot walk like the Super Turbo Builder in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger.

Trivia
- Fiveman is the first Sentai in all-sibling team. Followed by Kyukyu Sentai GoGoV and Mahou Sentai Magiranger.
- Fiveman is the only sentai so far to have different henshin devices for the core team (Henshin braces for male members, and henshin pendants for female members), and is the only sentai to have neck-worn henshin devices.
- This was the first sentai series to switch actor roles. Originally, Kazumi and Ken were the twins but weren't the youngest. The other included the 1993 series.
- Actor Kihachiro Uemura (Shubalie) previously played Dai/Green Flash, one of the main heroes in Choushinsei Flashman.
- Keiko Hayase (FiveYellow/Remi) appeared as a villainess in Kakuranger, as one of the Hana (flower) Rangers.
- Noriko Kinohara in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger
She's Joined for Five Pink. Here he is a scientist who is trying to make a life-crystal while he saved Five Pink from the cluthes of the Killer Queen.
