Bandung Institute of Technology
Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (English: Institute of Technology, Bandung) was established in 1920 as Technische Hogeschool te Bandung (THB). It was also the place where Indonesia's first president, Sukarno, got his engineering degree in architecture.
Later it became part of the Technical Faculty of University of Indonesia (UI) in Jakarta after Indonesia's independence. Today, with the annual supply of Indonesia's brightest students, the university boasts itself as the country's centre of excellence in science, technology, and art.
The university also supports the students professional and social activities by supporting the Student Unions which exists in every department. Each Student Union have their own jackets for their identity. There are also several Students Activity Units which support students' interests including sports, arts, and entrepreneurship.

Reputation
The university is considered as "The Indonesian MIT" and was ranked first in Asia in terms of competitiveness (Asiaweek 2000), topping the more renown Asian universities such as Nanyang Technological University or even the prestigious Tokyo Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Technology.
