Map upload

First, I will say that I don't know what the copyright status is on this map. Until you have determined that you shouldn't upload it. I would suggest contacting foxearth.org.uk and asking if it is in the public domain or not. If not, ask what license, if any, it is released under. If you have established that it falls under an acceptable license, you will need to download the file to your own computer. Once you've done that, click the "Upload file" link in the toolbox on the left hand side of your screen, or just click the link in this sentence. Read everything written there. If you have done that and are sure you can comply, select the file to upload. The next box is where you will write what you want the file to be called. You should keep the extension, e.g. .jpg, the same as the original but the file name should be descriptive of the image. In the case of this map, you can leave it the same. The next box is where you will write all the stuff you read about earlier, with the exception of the license that the image is under. That is done via the drop down menu. After that just click the "Upload file" button.—WAvegetarian(talk) 21:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Are you starting at Special:Upload? Have you checked out Wikipedia:Uploading images? For the source filename, you'd click on the icon to the right of the Source filename and choose the file from your computer to upload. For the destination filename, you'd choose an appropriate name for Wikipedia to call it. The key point is that the file must exist on your computer. Does that help at all? --Yamla 22:40, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also note that the map you are trying to upload seems to be created in 1895. You'll need to check that this means the map is no longer protected under copyright but given that it is more than 110 years old, I believe it is no longer protected. It is your responsibility to find out, however. --Yamla 22:40, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Transfer

Well give it a few days until the account becomes able to move and you can move your old userspace accross using the normal move tools, you can't however reclaim your contribution history there is no facility for that. You best bet is to just walk away for a bit and see if you can remember your original accounts password. --pgk(talk) 21:31, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You'll be able to move pages in a few days, so you'll be able to move your old stuff across that way. I can't hack wikipedia in anyway since I don't have direct access to the database (nor do other admins). As I say if you walk away and stop worrying about it, you might find you suddenly remember what it was you set it to. --pgk(talk) 21:41, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
