Plot summary

Template:Spoiler While camping in the woods as a company outing, Fry is abducted by aliens while searching for Bigfoot. He wakes up the next morning to find that his nose was stolen from his face. Fry learns that human noses are considered an alien aphrodisiac called "Human Horn". Bender, Leela, and Fry find out that Fry's nose was stolen by an alien porn dealer who sold the nose to Lrrr. The three travel to Omicron Persei VIII, where they find Lrrr and Ndnd are having marriage problems, thus explaining Lrrr's purchase. After retrieving and reattaching Fry's nose, thanks to a little bit of human genital confusion on the part of Lrrr being cleared up by Bender, Lrrr orders that he have Fry's "lower horn" removed for his personal use. Thanks to Leela's suggestion, the trio plan a dinner back in the woods to try and rebuild Ndnd and Lrrr's relationship. The dinner almost fails and Fry nearly gets his "lower horn" snipped off, when Bigfoot shows himself and Lrrr saves the creature from a human poacher. After delivering a speech on how Fry, like Bigfoot, is one of God's most beautiful creatures, Ndnd realises that her husband is still the sensitive Omicronian she fell for. The crew runs for it as the now-happy couple passionately make love.

Quotes

  • Ranger Park: Hello. I'm Ranger Park, the Park Ranger...
    Fry: I get it!
  • Sal: Have yous ever seens Bigfeet?
Ranger Park: Technically no, but I do see him each night in my dreams, and each day in the smiling faces of hairy children.
  • Bender: Oh my God! Look! It's Bigfoot!
Ranger Park (The park ranger): Where? (takes out camera)
Bender: Ah, he's gone. He said you should keep wasting your life, though.
  • Bender: Hey, look! Bigfoot! He's back!
    Ranger Park: (Excited) Where?
Bender: UP your face! HA HA! (dances) Everybody do the Bender, ooh, ah, ooh-ah!
  • Fry: Wait, listen, I'm usually the first guy to toot my own lower horn...
    Bender: I'll say! WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Fry: But in this case, I just don't think it's going to do any good.
Bender: That's what she said! WOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Lrrr: This "jerked" chicken is good. I think I'll have Fry's lower horn jerked.
Bender: It's used to it! WOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Fry: YES! I never thought I'd escape with my doodle, but I pulled it out!
Bender: Just like at the movie theater! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Lrrr: If I poach this beast's lower horn, am I any better than that ranger with his demented foot lust? (thinks) Yes, but not by enough. This human's lower horn is one of God's creatures, a living thing, and all living things, large and small...
Bender: In this case small! WOOOOOOOO!
  • Leela: Well, Fry, it looks like you get to hold onto your lower horn.
    Bender: As usual! WOOOOOOOO!
  • Narrator: You're on a scenic route through a state recreation area known as the human mind. You ask a passerby for directions, only to find he has no face or something. Suddenly up ahead, a door in the road. You swerve, narrowly avoiding The Scary Door
Mad Professor: I have combined the DNA of the world's most evil animals to make the most evil creature of them all.
He pours a liquid from a test tube into the machine. In a few seconds, a man emerges.
Man: It turns out it's Man.

Trivia

  • The opening theme tune is sung by the cast instead of the usual instrumental version.
  • The original story had Fry missing his "lower horn" for the first two acts and Lrrr and Ndnd trying to destroy Earth as a way of sparking the romance back in their marriage again in the third act. However, due to the controversial "lower horn" aspect the story was changed.
  • Although it was the second to last episode, the audio commentary was recorded last.
  • The 3D car spinning around in the outer space bazaar is the same car used in the episode "Lesser of Two Evils"
  • The Twilight Zone parody over the ending credits is a shortened version which was taken from the episode "The Birdbot of Ice-catraz" (which also features a naturalist being inhumane to animals).
  • The stolen pez despenser Bender presents is a Calculon head.

References

  • The episode's title is based on Spanish fly, popularly and erroneously known as an aphrodisiac.
  • The reference to "human horn" is based on the belief that rhinoceros horn is also an aphrodisiac.
  • Joe Camel can be seen at the galactic bazaar.
  • The sex shop at the Galactic Bazaar is named "The Beast With Two Bucks", a reference to "the beast with two backs", a common euphemism for sex. The phrase originates from Shakespeare's Othello.
  • The flying Winnebago from Spaceballs is seen amongst the RVs in the parking lot.
  • A creature resembling a sand crawler from the Star Wars universe can be found in the parking lot.
  • Lrrr's quote "One of these days Ndnd, bang, zoom, straight to the third moon of Omicron Persei 8" is a reference to Ralph Kramden's classic line in The Honeymooners. A similar line was cut out of the episode "The Problem with Popplers".
  • The tubes that come out of the saucer that abducts Fry are similar to a popular Microsoft screensaver.
  • The final shot of the episode is very similar to the infamous shot of Bigfoot walking away in the Patterson film.
