Kimberly Karath was born on 4th August 1958 in Los Angeles, California. Although she was born with the name 'Kimberly' in many of her films, it is shortened to 'Kym' in the credits, and that is what she is known to her fans today. From a young age, Kym had appeared in a number of films from 'Spencer's Mountain' (1963) with Henry Fonder and 'The Thrill of It All' (1963) with Doris Day. Kym is best remembered for playing Gretl Von Trapp who is often known as 'the baby of the family', in the highly-acclaimed film 'The Sound of Music' (1965) with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. After the 'Sound of Music' Kym became involved in American television series, such as making a guest appearance in "Lost in Space." Kym also moved to Paris, France to study art history and she also did some modelling. In 1991, she had a son called Eric. Heather Menzis Urich is his godmother. Kym now currently lives in the States, and was recently seen on 'Good Morning America', promoting Sound of Music on DVD, the 40th edition, with the rest of the Sound of Music cast.
