Steve Hale was a character on the TV sitcom Full House played by Scott Weinger. His role on the show was as D.J.'s steady boyfriend.

Steve Hale may or may not be the same Steve that goes out with D.J. once in mid-season five, as the last name is different (Steve Peters). However, in Steve's first "appearance" as a regular cast member at the start of season six, D.J. does remind her family, when informing them about her new relationship, that she and Steve "went out a couple times last year," so it's generally understood that it's the same Steve. The problem comes in "Birthday Blues," which takes place in January, where D.J. says it's their six month anniversary, which puts Steve and D.J. only going out once they met in Spain. (Changing a character's name on a second appearance isn't that unusual for a television series, e.g., David on "Roseanne." In Full House itself, Jesse's last name is changed from Cochran to Katsopolis after the first season. On the other hand, that six month anniversary is so big for D.J. she forgets Kimmy's Sweet Sixteen, meaning the writers could have quickly changed their minds).

Steve is a caring, compassionate young man who voluntarily offered not to ever see D.J. again because their relationship was coming between D.J. and Danny early in season six. Later in that episode, Danny allowed D.J. to continue to see Steve as long as she started setting her priorities right and fulfilling her school and family obligations first.

Steve remained an important part of D.J.’s and the Tanners' lives, and they truly liked each other, though Danny was leery of them getting too close, as most protective fathers would be. Steve was a senior in high school in season six, and escorted D.J. to his prom. He then went to a community college in the area, though we don’t know where, and moved into his own apartment, though it appears he later moved back home. His main interest was eating, and would exercise this usually one the Tanner's fridge when he came to pick up D.J.

Steve and D.J. split up near the end of season seven, as they discovered their relationship was losing its passion and they were starting to drift apart. However, he returns in the show's series finale in season eight to take D.J. to her prom, and from the fact they missed each other and embraced so warmly so quickly when he did show up, viewers often imagine that they began a deeper, more meaningful relationship afterward.
