Synopsis

Lisa and Homer make a bet on who would win the 1948 presidential election, with Lisa betting Harry S. Truman and Homer going for Thomas Dewey. In the end, Lisa wins, and she has to choose the activity for Daddy-Daughter Day. Her activity is taking part in building homes for the homeless alongside Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and George H. W. Bush (parodizing The Three Stooges). When Homer paints a house, he accidentally gets paint on his wedding ring, and Lindsay Naegle and Cookie Kwan mistake Homer for being a bachelor. Marge, driving by, sees Homer flexing for the women (though he is actually discussing the history of how Marge gave birth to Bart). She worries that Homer has no interest in her anymore, so she decides to get liposuction, on the advice of Manjula.

Unfortunately, a mix-up causes her to get breast implants, which Mayor Quimby wanted for one of his interns, who gets the surgery. Marge's doctor says that she has 48 hours to live with her breasts until she makes a decision. Meanwhile, Bart and Milhouse watch an old episode of Batman, featuring Krusty as a villain named Clownface, who puts the Dynamic Duo on a carousel. They like it, which inspires them to recreate it, with Bart putting Milhouse on a roundabout in school. It causes him to spin extremely fast, the roundabout to go flying through the air and knocking over the flag. Milhouse throws up on the flag when Iwo Jima veterans visit the school. Bart says that he saw Krusty do it, and in response, Principal Skinner leads a group protesting against Krusty, who is now seen as a dangerous influence to children. At home, Homer sees Marge with her breast implants, and the family goes to dinner, with Homer and several men singing about Marge's breasts. She meets a trade show executive, who gives her a modeling job.

Marge prepares for the spot in the show, but her new appearance gives her problems when she is there. Bart recruits Krusty to win back his trust, using Milhouse and Stampy in a stunt, which of course goes out of control. Things go horribly wrong, until Marge distracts the crowd by revealing her breasts to everyone (which is worth 25 pages of photos in the Springfield Shopper). Krusty, hated by residents of Springfield, saves the day by (accidentally) uttering Stampy's safety word, Magumbo, while referring to Marge's giant breasts in an exclamation of surprise. Marge later decides that she wants her implants removed, and they are removed.

Trivia

  • The word 'breast' is only said once in this episode.
  • Probably coincidentally, "Large Marge" is also the name of a trucker in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
  • The Baha Men sing a breast-orientated parody of their hit "Who Let the Dogs Out?" for this episode, along with a kid-friendly version that even Maggie dislikes.
  • This is the last episode where Marcia Mitzman Gaven would provide a voice for one of Maggie Roswell's character's. Marcia voiced Helen Lovejoy in this episode.
  • The veterans raising the flag is similar to Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima
  • Krusty yelling Stampy's safety word "Magumbo" is a reference to The Day the Earth Stood Still, where the character Helen has to yell "Klaatu barada nikto" to stop a robot from destroying the Earth. Helen even had a hard time yelling it out, much like Krusty.
  • When Krusty couldn't remember "Magumbo", he said other words. For example, he mentions the word "Nintendo".
  • In the parody of the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima, the episode features five marines, but in the famous photo there are actually six marines.[1]

Quotes

  • (Batman episode)
Batman: Struggling in vain! Gather your wits, old chum. It seems we've been captured by that painted Pagliacci of perversity!
    Robin: You mean...Clownface?
    Batman: None other.
Clownface (Krusty): (trademark Krusty laugh) Well, if it isn't "Batmensch" and the "Goy Wonder"! (Krusty laugh)
Batman: Clownface, what in the name of Huntley-Brinkly do you plan to do to us?!
Clownface: I'm just gonna take you for...a spin! (Clownface's aides hold up a rope) Hoo, Hah, Hee, show our guests to the "Twirley Gates"! (Krusty laugh)
(Hoo, Ha, and Hee begin pulling their rope which causes the carousel to begin spinning at fast speeds)
Robin: Holy G-force, Batman! The bloods rushing to my head!
Batman: That's right my panicky chum. In a few minutes you and I will literally...blush ourselves to death.
Clownface: Oh, my, this is taking a long time.
(later, the Dynamic Duo escapes, knock out the villains, and arrest Clownface)
Police chief: Faith and begorra, Batman! How'd ya ever escape?
Batman: Fortunately, I always carry my "Carousel Reversal Spray".
Clownface: Oh. What don't you have in that belt?
Batman: Patience! For harlequin hoodlums like yourself!
Police chief: Truer words were never spoken, Crusader.
  • Marge: Anyway, you're the only man I want ogling me.
Homer: Oh, we're gonna do a little more than just ogling...
    Marge: Oh, Homey...
Homer: Let's go get fried chicken!
  • Milhouse: Sweet Valley High! Krusty played a Batman villain?
Bart: Well sure, he played Uncle Velderschmoink on "Bewitched"
  • (Milhouse knocks down the American flag and then barfs on it.)
Skinner: Wait, this just doesn't add up. Milhouse has never been anything but a.. comic foil!
Bart: (arrives on scene) Hey, what's going on here? Something crazy?
Skinner: There's your queen bee! Explain yourself, Simpson!
Bart: Uh.. I saw Krusty do it on TV!
Skinner: Then Krusty will feel my wrath. The spritz has hit the fan!
  • Marge: Hey, cops! Check out this all-points bulletin! (unhooks her bra, causing men to stare at her)
Krusty: (staring at her) Whoa, look at those magumbos!
(Stampy makes a trumpeting noise and looks at Krusty)
    Krusty: Hey, that's it! Magumbo!
(Stampy falls on his side, causing Bart, Milhouse, and Homer to come out of his mouth in a pool of saliva)
Homer: I came out of the elephant's mouth, right? 'Cause I already showered once today.
  • Lisa: Dad, you're getting paint on your wedding ring.
Homer: Oh, yeah. Could you hold it for me? (takes off the ring)
Lisa: (examines the ring) This is a Band-Aid wrapped in tin foil!
Homer (shamefully) My real ring's inside a turtle.
