Bhiwani, a district in Haryana, India, has an area of 5099 sq. km. It has 442 villages with a population of 1.42 million. The district headquarters is the city of Bhiwani, which is around 124 kilometers from Delhi. The city, it is believed, was founded by a Rajput named Neem after his wife Bhani. The name Bhani later changed to Bhiyani and subsequently to Bhiwani. The city finds mention in Ain-e-Akbari and has been a prominent center of commerce since time of Mughals. Bhiwani is known for its numerous temples and therefore is also called the little Kashi of India. The city is located 124 kilometer from Delhi.

Other major towns in the district of Bhiwani are Dadri, Loharu, Tosham and Bawani Khera.
