Spritz

Spritz or spriz (from German Spritzen, to squirt or spray) is a name for Scandinavian cookies which are made by forcing the dough through a cookie press.

Spritz

Spritz, an alcholic beverage has its origins in the Veneto Region, Italy. Spritz is an apperitivo made of either Aperol or Compari and mixed with White Wine or Prosecco and Sparkling Mineral Water. It is usually served in a glass with ice and a slice of Orange.

Wine

German white wines sometimes have small amounts of carbon dioxide present at bottling. This very slight carbonation and its prickly sensation are known as spritz.

When it occurs naturally, spritz indicates that the wine has been very well protected from exposure to oxygen, and is not a flaw. Spritz can also be produced artificially by the addition of carbon dioxide at bottling.

Carbonation that is accompanied by undesireable flavors is not spritz, and is a fault. Typically this is the result of unintended malolactic fermentation.
