German politician, 5th March 1870 in Lublin, Poland, killed 15th January 1919 in Berlin

Rosa Luxemburg was a leader of the german communist party during the weimar republic. Together with Karl Liebknecht she was the leader of the "Startakusbund" (spartacist).

In december 1918 she co-founded the german communist party (KPD - Kommunistische Partei Deutschlands), which tried to seize power in January 1919 (spartacist revolt), which ended by her and Karl Liebknechts capture on the 15th january 1919. On the same day, both were killed by the soldiers of the "Freikorps".
