Sumner Hunt was an architect in Los Angeles, who designed the Janet Jacks Balch Hall for Scripps College, a liberal arts women's college in Claremont, California. It is a member of the Claremont Colleges.

History

The Hall was completed in the Fall of 1929. The building was a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Allan C. Balch of Los Angeles, and named in honor of trustee Janet Jacks Balch. Today Balch Hall is used as the administrative center and the adjoining auditorium is a key location for lectures, plays, community meetings, convocations, and musical events.
