Hello there, welcome to the 'pedia! Nice work on taking out all those "virulents" - that adjective is not something we want used a lot around here. I also liked your work on World Church of the Creator. However, there is a problem and I must admit I and several others are guilty of being lazy: We haven't yet made a warning for new users about our user name policy. In short we do not allow for offensive user names. The developers will therefore be renaming your account but we need to know which user nic you want. You can respond here. Cheers! --maveric149

- Hi, there, whoever you are. You've added some good contributions here - how did you determine that the plane in that phony tourist photograph was a 757, by the way? - but I must agree with Robert's thoughts - a change of 'nic' is needed in accordance to common sense and Wikipedia policy.
- Two questions, just out of curiosity, Mr. Merkel:
- What makes you think this user is a "Mr."? It seems to me this name swings either way, depending on whether the person is heterosexual, homosexual, and/or autosexual.
- What makes you think this user hasn't seen the messages on the user and usertalk pages? My guess was the person had seen them and was ignoring them in the reasonable expectation that the community would talk the issue to death before, if ever, getting around to changing this username. -- isis 07:39 Jan 16, 2003 (UTC)
- Mr or Ms., makes no difference as far as the name goes, it's still offensive. As to why I referred to the person as "Mr. Guzzler" it was because I feel extremely uncomfortable calling somebody "Cumguzzler" even if that's the name they give themselves, and in my experience on the Net few women, regardless of their sexual preferences, would give themselves such a name, particularly on a website not dedicated to discussion of sexual matters. It was probably wrong to have made that assumption. Sorry about that.
- Secondly, nobody's been complaining about this person's actual edits so far so I (and I presume other regular users) was willing to assume that given a chance to respond reasonably, they would. Guzzler, seeing you're clearly active and reading recent changes, must have seen the messages on your talk page, and have not replied, I expect the developers will assume that you have no opinion on a preferred name change and will just pick a new one arbitrarily. --Robert Merkel 08:45 Jan 16, 2003 (UTC)

I could deal with just plain "Guzzler." Part of an effective process functioning is the responsibility of the participants to be sensitive to the sensibilities of others involved. I think I could safely say that Wikipedians generally tend to be pretty liberal and intelligent, but there's clearly a great deal of discomfort with "Cumguzzler," including on my own part. I have to question what someone is trying to accomplish by parading such intimations of overt sexuality in a public forum in such a manner that they're guaranteed to know that they're offending people. What the hell is the point?

- It's highly likely that they have, as they have made some further edits to articles that were recently edited (and were thus in the recent changes list) Unless they're clairvoyant, they are following Recent Changes. --Robert Merkel
