Teejan Bai is an exponent of Pandwani, a traditional performing art form in which she enacts the entire Mahabharata with musical accompaniment. Bai has won awards including the Padma Shri in 1988, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1995, and the Padma Bhushan in 2003.
