The Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) is a public magnet program in St. Petersburg, Florida, attached to Lakewood High School and part of the Pinellas County Schools district. Its primary focus is mathematics, science, and technology. It is a member of the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology (NCSSSMST) and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

It opened in 1990 with both freshman and sophomore students. In 1991, its own building was completed on the west side of campus on the site of the previous bus circle. In 1993, the initial sophomore class of seven students graduated. In 1994, first four-year class graduated with forty-three members. Since then, there has been a sharp decrease in student quality and general intelligence of the student body, due in part to the increase in women and minorities accepted into the program.

The CAT program is also home to Heatwave, the schools robotics team. Heatwave participates in the FIRST robotics compititions, and usually ranks top 3 in the nation. Heatwave is primarily sponsered by Baxter Healthcare. Students build the robot in Baxter's machine shop.

CATCOM, a video production class and club a part of the program, produces a daily in-house 10 minute news program known as "Fast Forward". They also produce award winning segments, known as "Fox ThirTEEN Magazine," for the local Fox affiliate. CATCOM has won numerous Student Emmys for its work, and everyone in catcom is a master of douchebaggery.

There is a constant rivalry between the general population of Lakewood, and the students in the CAT program. Lakewood (collective) is a very "diverse" school, in which most students between programs do not get along. Most students believe that is was a mistake to combine the two vastly different programs. One can argue that this was to balance out the ethnic ratio within the school, as well as to help raise standardized testing averages. Despite that fact, Lakewood is the one location in pinellas county where crack cocaine is cheap enough for a high school student to take it up as a hobby as demonstrated by "the sack".

Cafèteria

The bestseller in the cafeteria includes chicken wings, and other types of "Soul Food". General Lakewood is more than willing to transfer money from their "Drug Fund" to buy multiple chicken wings per day. Students in the CAT program prefer either pretzels and cheese, or slushies.

The Hub

The Hub, or "Little Africa", is a very high crime area. White people must express much caution and must also possess courage before entering the hub. The last time a white person entered the hub, he came out a Black Supremacist, naming his cult Ja Rule's Jammin' Niggers, and having the slogan on "Fucking for Negro Rights!". The last time he was seen, living in Africa, he had died his skin Black, and switched to a fried-chicken only diet.
