Main characters

Billy

Main article: Billy (Billy and Mandy)

Billy (short for William as we learn in the episode "Smarten Up") is an astonishingly incompetent red-headed child with an oversized nose voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz. With an I.Q. of -5, he exemplifies the concept of "ignorance is bliss." Prone to surprising (if nonsensical) fits of rage, he is a hyperactive, nose-picking, flatulent child with a knack for causing disasters by experimenting with Grim's various supernatural items. He has a fondness for video games (as seen in My Peeps and Beasts and Barbarians), gut-busting junk food (as seen in Billy's Growth Spurt), and playing in places where he shouldn't (including Grim's trunk, various parallel dimensions and his cat Milkshakes' "secret hut," aka litterbox). He suffers from arachnophobia, which causes him to react with fear and violence towards his giant spider "son" (soon proved to be a girl in the episode Jeffy's Web) Jeff, and he has an irrational fear of clowns, which is only overcome after a conversation with his "Inner Frat Boy" in the episode Attack of the Clowns. In Whatever Happened to Billy Whatshisname?, Billy forms a deep hatred over a "replacement Billy" chosen by Mandy, a warped (as in ugly) version of Billy named Bobby (voiced by Michael Lindsay) who completely takes over Billy's life. In the holiday special episode Billy and Mandy Save Christmas, it is revealed in a statement during the credits that Billy's family is Jewish. (Or at least that they celebrate Hannukah, not Christmas.)

Mandy

Main article: Mandy (Billy and Mandy)

Mandy is Billy's constant companion voiced by Grey DeLisle: a blonde, noseless girl with an acerbic attitude, evil personality ("I believe in abusing and exploiting the stupid"), and often surprising intellect and knowledge of the supernatural. She is very rude to practically everybody, even her parents, and collects napkins. Although she has been shown to disrespect almost everyone she meets, it is suggested that she cares at least a little bit, as she is usually the first to recommend rescue missions and solutions to supernatural problems (although it has been revealed that the only reason she rescues Billy is "because The Grim Adventures of Mandy doesn't sound as good as The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy'"). She has an irrational fear of professional figure skaters, but the explanation she gives - "I just don't trust the way they spin, is all" - might hint at her awakening interest in the political sphere. Mandy's relationship with Billy can be characterized as brother-sisterly: They argue, fight and insult each other, but they stick together. Their relationship is platonic, although it has been suggested that there is some kind of romantic attachment, mostly because of the improbability of clever, well-read Mandy preferring to spend her time in the company of an idiot like Billy. Mandy's relationship with Grim ranges from domineering to grudgingly respectful, although she frequently appoints him to perform humiliating chores and never lets him forget that she "owns" him. She is a fearless fighter who will stand up to schoolyard bullies (Billy and the Bully) and monsters from the underworld (Irwin Gets a Clue) without flinching (a fawning Irwin has aptly described her as a "tiny Valkyrie"). Mandy usually never smiles, aside from the occasional evil smirk.

Mandy seems to possess some sort of evil power, as evidenced by her encounter with General Skarr in the episode Skarred for Life and when searching for a replacement Billy in the episode Whatever Happened to Billy Whatshisname?. In both scenarios she reduces Skarr and Sperg to snivelling messes simply by the force of her presence. Only rarely has her character ever faltered from her dark norm: In the episode The Nerve, Mandy becomes downright meek when Billy magically steals her "nerve," although Mandy learns that her nerve is not what makes her "dark, foreboding, and charmingly cynical"; it is Mandy herself. In the episode Crushed she is shown suffering from the effects of love at first sight, including sweating palms, knocking knees, heart-filled fantasy sequences and, yes, even smiling. In the episode Sickly Sweet, where Billy and Grim put a cursed mask on her and every time she acts rude she turns more and more into a hideous beast. The mask is stuck on and so the only way she can get it off is if she starts acting nice to everyone. In the episode My Fair Mandy, Mandy shows honest and human concern over whether or not she is pretty. When told by her instructor she will never win without smiling and has no chance at winning the "Little Miss Scurvy" pageant, Mandy appears sincerely sad, complete with a saddened expression (as rare from her as a smile). (When she does smile, however, reality falls apart, because the instructer messed with the natural order of things.) Mandy is voiced by Grey DeLisle, who lends a characteristic somber and Gothic tone to this character.

Grim

Main article: Grim (Billy and Mandy)

Having lost a limbo contest to Billy and Mandy, not only does he have to spare the life of Billy's pet hamster, but he is also fated to be their "best friend" (or rather, their slave) forever, a task he suffers with no small amount of disdain and mockery from other supernatural creatures. He is a scythe-wielding skeleton in a black hooded robe voiced by Greg Eagles. His accent and some of his lines suggest he is Jamaican. (Grim's Jamaican accent may imply inspiration by the "Papa Legba" and/or "Baron Samedi" loa, and from a scene in the movie "Meet Joe Black" where Death speaks with a Caribbean accent.) Grim was apparently a child at the time of the Neanderthal and he often brings up traumatic experiences from his youth as well as the lessons he had learned from them, such as losing a crucial baseball game (The Bad News Ghouls), being bullied (Billy and the Bully, Bully Boogie), and failing to live up to his parents' expectations (A Grim Prophecy). He has had several love interests, including a goth-girl named Malaria, Eris during her "valley girl phase," Billy's mom, a sexy, Elvira-like television horror show host named Atrocia, and Lubbermouth, a worm-like creature with "large, luscious lips" who had an unrequited crush on Grim during high school. Grim hates the servitude he has been placed in, constantly hoping that Billy and Mandy will die on one of the adventures the three go on. Despite this, he has shown some reluctant concern for Billy, who treats him far better than Mandy does. This is complicated by the fact that he suggests abandonment of Billy when he's lost or kidnapped while Mandy recommends rescue. It is also known that Grim's "reputation" in the underworld has diminished greatly since he met Billy and Mandy. There are many incidents where both Billy and Mandy mock him. For example, in one fateful episode, Grim was humiliated by dressing up as a girl scout and selling candy from door to door. Another is when they publicly humiliate him on his own talk show, get him beat up by Billy's mom, and doom him to do meaningless and unnecessary chores nearly every day. Despite his losing of his once wide and feared popularity, and the forbidding of using his scythe for only the most ridiculous of situations and ludicrous purposes (making a burrito talk, for example), Grim somehow benefits from being a physical slave, and it seems that his mood has been changed ever so slightly each episode. Grim likes all kinds of chaos, despair, and torture (except his own,) Martial Arts activities (he attends a children's Karate class), and many kinds of dark things. On rare occasions, Grim behaves effeminately, wearing a dress in pink, sniffing and picking flowers. It's almost safe to say Grim has a small if not unnoticeable liking for the children that mock and torment him so. There is much evidence that he has been a nerd and geek for a great deal of his life.

Recurring Characters

Irwin

Irwin is Billy's closest friend (next to Mandy and Grim), voiced by Vanessa Marshall. Irwin is a nerdy character who longs to gain the admiration and affections of Mandy (in the episode Scythe for Sale, in an attempt to make Mandy like him, he uses Grim's scythe to hypnotize her and make her his obedient love slave, which would be his closest attempt at winning Mandy so far.) He often aspires to be cool (though he frequently fails in both goals, typically embarrassing himself). Despite his friendship with Billy, he also seems to harbor some subdued hatred or jealousy towards his incompetent friend, possibly due to the attention Billy receives from Mandy, not realizing that they both get the same disrespect from her. His father is a nerdy, bespectacled middle-aged version of his son and his mother is a mummy. He frequently ends sentences with "yo" (as does his father with the word "dude"). In "Beast and Barbarians" Irwin tells Grim that he is more of a "Spell Caster Kind-a-Guy". Irwin is mainly clumsy and can be a distraction. He can also be helpful. In the Halloween special he endured a lot of slapstick-esque pain which actually made many of the pumpkins die of laughter. Or when he gave Mandy, Billy, and Grim a ride with the help of Grim's scythe to locate Fred Flinstone when he went on a carjacking, kidnapping rampage. He was once a werewolf. Irwin said Mandy was the only one for him, and yet he still keeps a Happy Huggy Stuffy Bear. Irwin is often teased about his glasses. He once tried to raise money to buy a laser cannon and shoot at everyone's eyes so that they would have to wear glasses, too. Irwin and his family are known to have bad gas problems.

Pud'n

A physically weak and easily terrified friend voiced by Jane Carr and classmate of Billy and Mandy who is often either the victim, instigator, or both, of some terrible trauma. Pud'n is a red-headed, freckled, buck-toothed little boy who bursts into tears at the slightest provocation. He has a subscription to the "Super Mega Dork" magazine (as seen in the episode Substitute Teacher), and is allergic to pie. He is usually found hanging out with Billy and Irwin, being beaten up, or in class. Although a lot of people think of Pud'n as mentally challenged, according to "Substitute Teacher" he does fine in school, as he did not get an F (if he did, he would have stayed in class after school ended). Pud'n's main source of pain is usually from Sperg. Although in "Wishbones" he was brutally tortured by a small bunny whom he actually wished for. But he wanted on that would always love him. (He had never heard of tough love) It is implied that the rabbit killed him. That was one of the two times he had a major role. First in "Substitute Teacher" when he had his skeleton paranoia which occured throughout the entire segment and his bit in "Wishbones". A recurring joke is that when Pud'n is successful he starts to cry as seen "Bad News Ghouls" and "Go Kart 3000" because he is afraid that his fans will hurt him. In "Modern Primitives" Pud'n recites his report on a pirate named Captain Deadwood whom he misses and calls him the greastest sea captain ever, who he later says that he wasn't a real pirate. And Ms. Butterbean said he did very good. Although she was confused when she saw Pud'n's report it may be an insight into Pud'n acedemically speacking.

Sperg

The local bully voiced by Greg Eagles, often seen tormenting Billy, Irwin, or Pud'n. Sperg is a husky boy whose preferred method of terrorizing nerds is by administering wedgies. He has a heart-shaped tattoo that reads "Mom" on his arm and he is usually seen wearing a red hat with a red puffball on top, similar to the hat worn by Stan Marsh in South Park. He is sometimes the focus of gags based on his uncharacteristic love of dancing and "girly" music. He is terrified of Mandy, as seen in Billy and the Bully and Whatever Happened to Billy Whatshisname?. He plays guitar (a heart-shaped guitar, no less) in a band called Purple Filth (Battle of the Bands). He has acne problems (Just the Two of Pus), is a favorite student of Ms. Butterbean (Substitute Teacher) and is a gifted ice sculptor (Son of Nergal). He is very devoted to his mother (hence the tattoo) and he has a pet dog named Black Bart (Puddle Jumping). Sperg wants to be a Broadway performer when he grows up. He is also friends with the Tooth Fairy.

Mindy

The iconic "popular girl" voiced by Rachael MacFarlane, obsessed with proving her worth to Mandy, who doesn't much care for the spoiled girl. Her character is similar to that of Princess Morbucks from the Powerpuff Girls in that she considers herself superior to her classmates and her father buys her outrageous gifts (such as a pink motor-scooter named "Princess" in the episode Secret Decoder Ring). Mindy is red-haired and freckled and she describes herself as "much prettier" than Mandy. She has won a number of school beauty pageants (My Fair Mandy), is class president (Zip Your Fly), and pitches for a winning Little League baseball team (The Bad News Ghouls). She generally characterizes her classmates (Billy, Mandy and Irwin in particular) as losers. A popular quote from her is: "And in case you didn't know, that was sarcasm," which she says after saying something sarcastic.

Harold

Billy's father voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz (usually called "Harold" or "Harry" and sometimes "Fat Man" by Grim and the adult characters, but referred to as "Billy's Dad" by Mandy) is an overweight man with a large, bulbous nose and a lofty black pompadour hairstyle (a.k.a. "The Pomp") which houses his brain (A Kick in the Asgard) and of which is he duly proud. He is perhaps best described in the episode Runaway Pants as "a hard-working, loving family man... but not too bright." He strongly resembles his son in appearance, personality and intelligence (or lack thereof). Like his son he also has a number of unpleasant habits, including nose-picking, flatulence, male chauvinism (especially around his wife, Gladys) and unapologetic idiocy. He is convinced his son is a genius, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In his youth he lived in the same house where he is now raising his family (The Taking Tree), was a talented ballet dancer (although his father didn't approve, as seen in Billy Idiot), was accepted to Harvard (but his acceptance letter was stolen out of the mailbox by the Taking Tree), and is--somewhat improbably--a former Navy SEAL (Dream Mutt). His relationship with his wife Gladys seems to be a romantic and loving one despite their personality differences. His relationship with Grim is fairly jovial and he often refers to him by the nickname "Grimey." He has only said, "I love you" to his son once.

Gladys

Billy's mother Gladis is a loving, tolerant and patient woman despite having to deal with the stupidity of her husband and son and the presence of the Grim Reaper as her eternal houseguest. She has red hair like Billy, is voiced by Jennifer Hale and usually seen wearing a floor-length lavender nightgown. Billy describes her as: "ancient and grappling with the onset of menopause." She hates Grim to the point of psychotic obsession and she considers him a constant threat to her son's safety. She has an unexplained facial tic which usually appears when Billy is misbehaving, when her authority is challenged or whenever Grim is present. She is prone to small fits of insanity.

Mandy's parents

Mandy's mother voiced by Vanessa Marshall and father voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. They are very uptight people, quite fearful and disturbed by their daughter, in the episode Keeper of the Reaper while at court Billy called them up to the stand, they said "It's not that we don't like Mandy, its just we are sometimes afraid of her . . . After she was born, wolves came and tried to raise her . . . We still wonder if we were right in sending them away." Mandy's mom has blonde hair and and her dad wears glasses. Unlike Billy's parents, Mandy's parents seem quite normal. Mandy's mother enjoys cleaning the house, as seen in A Kick in the Asgard.

Irwin's parents

Usually referred to as "Irwin's mom" and "Irwin's dad," with license plates on their respective cars that say the same thing (as seen in That's My Mummy). While Irwin's father is a normal middle-aged man voiced by Phil LaMarr named Dick, Irwin's mother is a mummy voiced by Vanessa Marshall. She lives in a sarcophagus in the basement of Irwin's house, which for unexplained reasons looks like an Egyptian tomb. Their marriage is based on love despite the many improbable facets of their relationship (similar to Billy's parents). Irwin's father waves off questions as to how Irwin was conceived saying they are "questions which don't need to be answered." He ends a lot of his sentences with the word "dude" (as in: Don't be buggin', dude!)

Jeff the Spider

Billy's "son", a giant spider hatched from an egg found in Grim's trunk who came to believe through imprinting that Billy was his father. He is voiced by Maxwell Atoms, unusually kind and well-mannered, prone to giving gifts and apologizing profusely. His explanation is that he has an abnormally small "mean gland" which was temporarily increased with Mandy's help (Spider's Little Daddy). Billy is terrified of Jeff to the point of hatred, though Jeff is either blissfully unaware of this, or so loving that he ignores it. In the episode Jeffy's Web, it is suggested that Jeff is actually female, as he gives birth to hundreds of baby giant spiders. He was supposed to die 36 hours after laying his eggs, but a kind gesture by Grim ensures he'll be around to terrify Billy for a while.

Hoss Delgado

Hoss is a Spectral Exterminator, a hunter of paranormal creatures voiced by Diedrich Bader. Modeled after Ash, the protagonist of the famed Evil Dead horror movie trilogy, Hoss possesses only one hand with the other replaced with a mechanical hand that transforms into a fist, cannon, or (much like Ash) a chainsaw, amongst other things. Hoss also greatly resembles Snake Plissken, the character portrayed by Kurt Russell in John Carpenter's films Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. He first encountered Grim with the intent of exterminating him, believing that Billy and Mandy were being held hostage. After he learned the truth of their relationship, he congratulated the two children and left (apparently to battle a werewolf in Canada). He has since returned on several occasions to both aid and hamper (such as being convinced that a hair-covered Billy was a sasquatch) the citizens of Endsville, occasionally after being summoned for help. In the episode "Guess What's Coming to Dinner?", Hoss fell in love with Eris, but when he tried to take her in, Eris banished Hoss to the "Puppet Dimension." Hoss is the macho, take no prisoners, gung ho, manly figure in Grim adventures.

Eris

The Greek goddess of strife and matron deity of the Discordianism religion, here portrayed as a curvaceous and beautiful, but vindictive, blonde woman voiced by Rachael MacFarlane. She is a bitter rival to Grim and she delights in causing all kinds of chaos. She possesses the powerful Apple of Discord, a golden apple which can transform into any shape to perpetuate chaos. Her accent and mode of speech is prone to sudden shifts, from a stereotypical valley girl to a refined British woman. Eris' appearance is probably a reference to Madonna, who is known for her blonde hair and coquettishness and for adopting a faux British accent. Eris is even depicted in her second appearance with a gap in her front teeth similar to Madonna's.

Ms. Butterbean

Billy and Mandy's teacher. A teacher who exhibits the kind of personality that says she's only teaching to get her paycheck, she is often seen napping in class while the class works.. In the episode Modern Primatives / Giant Billy and Mandy All-Out Attack Fred Flinstone stole her and drove her away in the principal's car, she assumed they were getting married and told him she wants "2.5" kids and wants a house on the west side. She is voiced by Renee Raudman.

Nergal

Arch-nemesis to Billy, Mandy and Grim, he is a demonic creature who lives in the roasting center of the Earth, voiced by David Warner. He is an all-black supernatural being with neon green eyes, a neon green mouth and teeth and neon green organs. Among his powers are electrified tentacles that sprout from the back of his head, the ability to make objects rise up and break through the Earth's surface, and control over miniature versions of himself called "Nerglings." In an attempt to make friends he has resorted to kidnapping (in Fiend is Like Friend Without the "R"), raising a carnival from the center of the Earth (in Something Stupid Comes This Way), and seducing Billy's aunt (in Love is Evol Spelled Backwards). He ends up marrying Billy's aunt (thus becoming Billy's "Uncle Nergal") and they have a son named Nergal Junior. Nergal is generally considered something of a loser (as seen in The Loser from the Earth's Core) and he often becomes histrionic over his failings. He has been mistaken for Tony Curtis (in Love is Evol Spelled Backwards). Nergal was voiced by David Warner in the first episodes, and now is voiced by Martin Jarvis.

Aunt Sis

Gladys' sister who babysits Billy on Valentine's Day, voiced by Grey DeLisle. She is a sullen-looking woman with glasses, a large nose and a hairstyle similar to Gladys. She is a spinster (or a "splinter" according to Billy) who has experienced only four-and-a-half minutes of love in her "pathetic, lonely life." According to Billy's mom, Aunt Sis was in love with a John Travolta-like disco dancer named Dolphin Laygron 25 years ago, but he fell in love with another woman and broke Aunt Sis' heart (presumably the "happiest four-and-a-half minutes of her life" was the length of the song to which she and Dolphin danced). Aunt Sis is courted by Nergal (in Love is Evol Spelled Backwards) but resists his charms until Billy drops a beehive in his pants, causing him to leap around maniacally. Aunt Sis falls for Nergal's bee sting-inspired "dance moves" and they get married. She and Nergal have a son named Nergal Junior. She lives with Nergal and her son in the roasting center of the Earth, apparently without any ill effects from the heat.

Nergal Junior

Nergal's son by Billy's Aunt Sis, and thus Billy's half-demon cousin, voiced by Debi Derryberry. He has the power to transform into other people, and most of the time appears in a borrowed form of a small geek (the geek he apparently "took care of" in the episode Son of Nergal). All of Junior's forms are darker in color than originally, and Junior always has green eyes and glasses no matter what form he's in. Junior has also transformed into a dog (in Substitute Teacher) and a pair of magic pants (in Runaway Pants). He has an apparently horrific, gruesome true form that is never seen on-screen, although it is seen in Son of Nergal and Substitute Teacher that he has tentacles that sprout from the back of his head much like his father has. His arrival in the series is comically improbable, as he went from egg at the beginning of Son of Nergal to primary school age apparently in days. As an egg, Junior already wore glasses (but had no eyes), and could talk. In Son of Nergal, Mandy defeats Junior's out-of-control body-snatching by ripping the head off Junior's teddy bear (and only friend) Mr. Bonkers. The teddy bear was never seen again. Junior also showed his slightly evil tendencies by freezing everyone who was unkind to him in Son of Nergal and by terrorizing Sperg while in the form of Ms. Butterbean in Substitute Teacher. Although Junior's only actual friend was Mr. Bonkers, he has seemed to have developed a relatively friendly relationship with Billy, Mandy, Irwin and Pud'n.

Nigel Planter

A spoof of Harry Potter, Nigel is a boy with glasses and an "L"-shaped scar on his forehead, voiced by Jake Thomas. He's a whiny, overconfident young wizard from Weaselthorpe House at Toadblatt's School of Sorcery. He was soundly beaten by a giant one-eyed dwarf after taking the credit for Mandy's acts of sabotage against Gunderstank House, a rival dormitory, in the episode Toadblatt's School of Sorcery. He was menaced by the evil wizard "Lord Moldybutt" (a parody of Voldemort) in Nigel Planter and the Chamber Pot of Secrets, but was able to avoid his impending demise with Billy and Mandy's help. In the episode One Crazy Summoner, Nigel hits puberty and he develops a crush on "Herfeffenie Pfefferfeffer," the most beautiful witch at Toadblatt's. His attempts to win Herfeffenie with a love potion and enchanted chocolates all backfire. Herfeffenie (a spoof of Harry Potter's Hermione Granger/Cho Chang) was soon stolen by "Dorko Malfly" (a spoof of Draco Malfoy). Although on fairly friendly terms with Billy, Nigel is not at all liked by Mandy, who has little patience for his attention-grabbing, constant whining and failed attempts to hit on her. He also has an antagonistic relationship with Dean Toadblatt, who would like to see him expelled (possibly an allusion to Severus Snape, though not as obvious). In the spanish dubs, his name is Harry Popote.

Grim's scythe, Jody

Grim's scythe, the traditional implement of the Grim Reaper, is somewhere between a prop and a character. He uses it for reaping, but it also serves as a combination magic wand and "Swiss Army Chainsaw." Grim uses spellbooks at times to create specific magical effects, but the scythe is usually involved in his magic and he often simply points it and wills whatever he wants to happen, which produces a blast from the Scythe and the desired result. It is also the main transport device for the characters, as Grim can use it to cut a hole in the fabric of Reality which opens up into whatever time and place he wants to go. Grim occasionally addresses the scythe as "Jody" and treats it as something of a pet, although it rarely displays any self-directed activity.

Other people can use the scythe, but it seldom goes well for them when they try (Mandy appears to be fairly adept with it). Grim seems to be fairly careless with it much of the time which, when the plot demands it, can cause trouble. In the "Billy and Mandy Save Christmas" holiday episode, Grim is tricked into leaving his scythe with the villain and then locked in a basement with a monster. However, much like Superman and the Starship Enterprise, at any given time the scythe has the powers it needs - and doesn't have the powers it doesn't need - for plot purposes. A few minutes after almost being got by the monster because he doesn't have the scythe, Grim whistles for it and it immediately cuts a hole in the ceiling and flies to his hand.

Grim is very fond of his scythe most of the time, although occasionally he will do something like trade it for Rollerblades in an attempt to be popular. The scythe is an extremely powerful magical implement, but there are other artifacts in the GA universe which, while it's hard to compare directly, are at least as powerful (e.g. Eris's Golden Apple of Discord and Chaos) or even more powerful (e.g. the Tooth Fairy's Gold Star Scepter.)

Mandice Characters

Milkshakes

Milkshakes is Billy's cat, a rosy-pink feline who is frequently put into unusual situations by the supernatural events that occur in his owner's life. Whether possessed by Grim, mind-controlled by an intelligent parasite, or hanging by the claws from the branches of a tree, Milkshakes shakes it all off with a calm meow. The cat's stoic attitude is at odds with that of his owner. Milkshakes' meow is done by Grey DeLisle.

Saliva

Saliva is Mandy's dog. His behavior is closer to that of Billy, in that he appears to have lower-than average intelligence, motor skills, and awareness. Also like Billy, he can exhibit uncharacteristic rage on occasion. His name echoes his propensity for drooling. Saliva's sounds are made by Richard Steven Horvitz (save for in the episode "Mandy Bites Dog", in which case the sounds are made by Jess Harnell).

Lil' Pork Chop

Billy's pet fish in the episode Li'l Porkchop / Skarred for Life . He originally was a very small fish, until Grim gave him special fish food out of sympathy for Billy. The food caused him to grow large, and he began to live without water, with disasterous results. He soon meets his demise. In Keeper of the Reaper, he said was Billy's pet for 11 minutes, the length of the episode he was featured in. He was voiced by Roger Rose, almost sounding like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jorgen Von Strangle.

Grandma Billy

Harold's mother and Billy's grandmother. Grandma Billy first appeared in Billy and Mandy's Jacked Up Halloween, as the old woman who wouldn't give them candy.As of Billy and Mandy The TV Movie she is evil. Grandma Billy was voiced by Grey DeLisle in her first appearance; she is now voiced by Candi Milo.

Melvin

A teenage boy who appears in the episode The Halls of Time. Irwin shakes his hourglass in the Halls of Time, causing him to rapidly change ages in the midst of flirting with a teenage girl at school. Irwin drops the hourglass upon being distracted, giving the impression he killed his brother. His name is never mentioned by any of the characters, however his hourglass is labeled "Melvin." He has not appeared in any further episodes. He was voiced by Cam Clarke.

Irwin's grandmother

Also known as "Granmama," she is Dick's mother. She appeared in the episode Duck! She is voiced by Phil LaMarr. Like Irwin and his dad, she always throws a certain word into her sentences. Her word is "baby."

Principal Goodvibes

The principal of Billy and Mandy's school. His name was legally changed to Goodvibes, and he is very concerned with making sure his students feel good to the point of ridiculousness. His name is always said wrong by Eris and Hoss Delgado from Goodbar to Goodbaby to Goodyouranidiot. We recently found out that being an educator doesn't pay any better in the GA universe than it does in this one: Goodvibes secretly lives in his car, which is parked in the school parking lot. He is voiced by Chris Cox.

Nurse Pembroke

The long-suffering nurse at Billy and Mandy's school who is frequently called upon to administer aid to the accident-prone Billy. She is voiced by Vanessa Marshall.

The Bookworm

A worm that can be eaten to increase intelligence. He is very sarcastic.

Mandy's Nerve

Billy stole the nerve from Mandy in an attempt to be smart. Mandy became timid and weak without it, but then realized that she didn't need it all along. She then kicked the nerve out of town.

General Skarr

This General Skarr section, refers to cameo appearance made by him in this TV series. For general biography of General Skarr, see the "Characters section" in main Evil Con Carne article.

A guest star from the Evil Con Carne program and animated shorts that spun off from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Retired from villainy, he moved into Billy and Mandy's neighborhood in the episode Skarred for Life. He is trying to overcome temptation to take full power over the earth, usually by gardening, making cornbread, or clipping coupons. This is shown in the episode Wishbones. He was also a judge in the Little Miss Scurvy pageant in the episode My Fair Mandy and a shopping mall Santa in Billy and Mandy Save Christmas. Skarr is voiced by Armin Shimerman.

Sir Raven

A hostile British bird who hosts two episodes, Tricycle of Terror and My Fair Mandy. He wears a fez, a bathrobe, and carries a golden, jewel-encrusted goblet. Typically he sits by a fire in a library decked out in Edwardian fashion, and comments on the episode at hand. He sometimes shouts out his dialogue at random moments with no expression on his face. Example: "And what of everyone else, you ask? Oh, who cares, they bore the snot out of me. THE. END!!! " Another quote: "Will Mandy win the pageant? Will she ever smile? I don't care. Instead, here's an important commercial message. IMPORTANT. COMMERCIAL. MESSAGE!!! " Another quote: "Do not cry for him. DO NOT CRY!!! " And Another "YOU FOOLS! YOU'VE MESSED WITH THE NATURAL ORDAAA !!!" During these outbursts, Sir Raven is given an emphatic close-up. Sir Raven appears to be a spoof of Edgar Allen Poe's poem The Raven. He may also be a spoof of Alistair Cooke, who hosted PBS's Masterpiece Theatre, or Bullwinkle in some of the Mr. Know-it-All and Bullwinkle's Corner segments of Rocky and His Friends. He is voiced by Julian Stone.

Piff

Billy's "new friend" in the episode Crushed. He is a ponytailed half-Goth, half-beatnik kid who wears all-black clothes, stylish sunglasses, a jaunty beret and a distinctive "HATE" belt buckle. He is silent through most of the episode, expressing himself only through his imperious attitude, the occasional raised eyebrow and how he applies his saliva to the situation (i.e. spitting or drooling). When he does speak, his voice is high-pitched and geeky. Mandy develops a debilitating crush on him. His real name is never revealed; "Piff" is the name given to him by Billy when Irwin points out that they have to call him something. He also appears in the episode The Bubble With Billy--he is sitting behind Billy and Mandy in their classroom while they're taking a test. Piff is voiced by Maxwell Atoms.

Granny Grim

Grim's grandmother (a skeleton with dreadlocks) who has a knack for concocting potions and remedies for various ailments. Her recipes include a stomachache remedy using "Screaming Mimis," Granny's Heebee-Jeebee Juice, and a love potion. In the episode Billy's Growth Spurt, Billy takes her stomach remedy which is supposed to expel toxins, but which ends up creating a parasitic mini-Billy named Yop Yop. Yop Yop melts when he drinks Heebee-Jeebee Juice, Granny Grim's antidote to her remedy. In the episode One Crazy Summoner, Nigel Planter twice summons Granny Grim, once to get her love potion and once to get her enchanted chocolates, in an attempt to win the heart of Herfeffine Pfefferfeffer. Granny Grim's potions never quite work the way they should, but Grim still turns to her for help occasionally. Granny Grim is voiced by Dawnn Lewis.

Snake Nerds

Three nerdy boys at Billy and Mandy's school who comprise the Secret Snake Club, which Mandy joins during School Club Recruitment Day in the episode The Secret Snake Club. All three wear long red robes, have secret code names and have poor personal hygiene. "Viper" (a.k.a. Jerome) is a skinny, buck-toothed boy with a tall flattop haircut. He hosts Secret Snake Club meetings in his basement and provides refreshments in the form of "forbidden" Rice Crunchie treats shaped like snakes. He is a "Level 8". "King Cobra" is a large, mouth-breathing, monosyllabic boy with a blond bowl haircut, tiny glasses and a surprising talent for singing narrative songs like Bob Dylan. He is a "Level 7". "Wiggly" is a short, bespectacled boy with bad acne and a curly mop of hair. He is the de facto leader of the Secret Snake Club, primarily because he is the only member of the club who actually owns a snake (a small green garden snake named "Wiggly Junior"). He is a "Level 20," although it's never made clear what the levels are for or how they are attained (they do make references to "cards" with "hit points," so the levels may refer to a collectible card game like Magic: The Gathering or some kind of role-playing game). Together they are committed to their dark agenda: resurrecting a legendary Canadian dirt snake named Shnissugah who will devour the cool kids, leaving nerds to rule the earth. Viper and King Cobra are voiced by Billy West and Wiggly is voiced by Tom Kenny.

Baron Von Ghoulish

Baron Von Ghoulish is The Head Vampire, or at least just by title. He actually isn't the real leader of the vampires. (That would be, as he puts it, the "HEAD Head Vampire.") The Baron lives at the North Pole, near Santa Claus's workshop. He only appeared in the Christmas Special. Von Ghoulish was voiced by Malcolm McDowell.

Thromnambular

A wishing skull that grants wishes to: Billy, Harold, Skarr, Irwin, Pud'n, Junior, Sperg, Mindy, and Grim. He only appeared in Wishbones. He has ruby (red) eyes that is from another dimension. He stays in Grim's pocket. He is trapped on earth until he grants 9 wishes. All of the wishes turn out horrible. Skarr, Pud'n, and Mindy all die as the result of their wishes. He speaks in rhyme like Dr. Seuss yet says rude stuff to almost everyone he talks to. He was voiced by Dwight Schultz.

Lord Moldybutt

A spoof on Lord Voldemort, from the Harry Potter Series. He is an evil wizard, and the mere mention of his name causes nearby objects to break. He is trying to kill Nigel Planter and tells him not to go to the Chamber Pot of Secrets (spoof on The Chamber of Secrets). Later, they find out that it is really Toadblatt trying to scare off Nigel so that he won't have to deal with him anymore. Subsequently, the real Lord Moldybutt was seen, and delivered a statement about his planned return before falling into a hole. He was voiced by John Kassir.

Evil Bunny

A pink bunny that Pud'n wishes up from wish #5 of 9 wishes Thromnambular has to grant. He seems cute, but then starts to attack Pud'n after asking Pud'n if he knows what "tough love" is. He seems to be invincible after due to the fact that no matter what Pud'n tries to do, the bunny persists, even after it is involved in a semi truck accident. He is a spoof of a character from the film Donnie Darko and talks in the same voice as the character. He is voiced by Michael Bell.

Cthulu

An evil squid. He is purple and has a chubby humanoid body. Unfortunately, he's stuck in the phone lines forever. He is actually a fake Cthulhu; the giant green squid monster that took Billy is the real Cthulhu. He first appeared in Prank Call of Cthulhu. He is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.

Yogg Sawhaw

Yogg Sawhaw is a mysterious demon. He wasn't seen in any of Big Trouble in Billy's Basement but mentioned instead. Will possessed by the power of the Bad Book, Billy tried to summon him to destroy the world but Grim, Mandy and Hoss Delgado saved the day. He'll be voiced by Jake Cole Wyatt in his actual first appearance in Billy and Mandy The TV Movie. See also Yog-Sothoth.

Cerberus

Grim's out-of-control three-headed dog. Two heads are male hunter dogs and the third is female poodle. Mandy tamed him and adopted him after rejecting her dog Saliva for being stupid and cowardly. Cerberus fell in love with Mindy's dog Little Delicious and married her. The male heads' sounds are made by Jess Harnell and the female head's sounds are made by Danny Mann.

Fred Fredburger

Fred Fredburger is a stupid, self-absorbed and annoying denizen of the Underworld who is either an anteater or an elephant (or some green-skinned, demonic combination of the two). In the episode Keeper of the Reaper, he is summoned for jury duty at the Underworld Court, although he doesn't understand anything about court proceedings. He is a member of the jury hearing the arguments from Billy and Mandy over who should have custody of Grim. Fred is based partly on Pauly Shore's character from the film Jury Duty in which Shore plays an obnoxious juror who frequently interrupts the trial proceedings at the most inopportune times. C.H. Greenblatt voices the idiotic creature.

Singing Lobster

A spoof of Sebastain from The Little Mermaid he sings "Under the Ocean", like Under the Sea but includes how exactly free the sea is he says you will be killed if you don't follow the rules. He is eaten by Billy.

Wiggy Jiggy Jed

He only appeared in Dream Mutt. He was Grim's combination of the best traits from four dogs that created the ultimate dog for Billy. Billy destroyed him because he was going to take over the world. He was mentioned in Keeper of the Reaper, along with his little floating hat. He later appeared in Billy and Mandy The TV Movie. He is the show's homage to Hanna-Barbera cartoons. He was voiced by Pat Fraley.

Mighty Moe

It turns out that healthy living really does make you live longer: in the GA universe, every time you do something healthy, you get a little time (it's always twelve seconds) tacked onto your life. (Mandy theorizes, and Grim seems to agree, that every time you do something unhealthy,your life gets shorter.) Mighty Moe is an elderly fitness nut who's figured out how to game the system and actually accrue entire "Bonus Years" of life. This makes Grim furious: he hates it when people cheat. With Bonus Years, Mighty Moe could apparently live forever, despite Grim's protestations that this is not allowed. (And that "it's not all it's cracked up to be.") Mighty Moe explains his system in his book You Can Live Forever by Adding Bonus Years with Good Health. He is voiced by Alan Oppenheimer, although his voice is similar to Gilbert Gottfried, who voiced Santa Claus in this show's Christmas special. He is currently in the sun, giving his books to Hottie and his family. He is the owner of Mighty Moe's Gym. His first (and possibly only) partner is Spinner. Mighty Moe looks like a typical "old coot," with a balding head and long white beard, although his physique is, in fact, mighty and he shows it off by wandering around in a tight workout outfit. Moe's beard appears to contain a pocket dimension: Billy wanders into it looking for a lost toy and is there for some time. This cartoon is basically a health-food commercial packed into a half-hour.

Fred Flintstone

Fred Flintstone only appeared in the episode Modern Primitives, where Billy discovers him frozen in permafrost while digging to the center of the earth to keep cool(and possibly visit his Uncle Nergal). Fred is then hit with a total case of future shock, and goes on a destructive rampage. Billy then attempts to help him adapt to the present(and eventually dresses him like Mandy, hair and all)and renames him "Jake Steel", as he couldn't understand Fred when he told him his name. He also brings Fred to school inside a cage to show the class. Unfortunately, Fred escaped, and captured Ms. Butterbean while driving off in Principal Goodvibes' car/house. He then crashes into a truck of sherbet, where he is refrozen and reburied in Billy's yard. In the distant future, Fred is revived again, alongside Billy(he went looking for sherbet buried in his backyard. He then fell in and was frozen.). Two giant aliens then appeared, one of whom unscrewed the top of Fred's head and removed and ate his brain. He only spoke in "Yabba Dabba" Mindy said he smelled like "Yabba dabba doo-doo", except when asked his name, to which he responded, "Oh, Fred." He was voiced by James Arnold Taylor.

Scythe 2.0

Scythe 2.0 is the new high-tech scythe given to Grim by F in the Underworld. It temporarily replaced Grim's regular scythe, which broke. Billy, Mandy and Grim misused Scythe 2.0 by having it do their chores, instead of reaping. Scythe 2.0 decided that it needed to do what it was made to do: reap. It began by going after Billy and Mandy, but in the end, Grim stopped Scythe 2.0 and returned it to F, where it got a new job scraping bunions of F's legs. It was voiced by William Daniels.

Invisible Duck

A duck that can only be seen by the person it is currently tormenting. It makes a farting sound with its tongue and since it can't be seen the closest person is often blamed. The duck has driven almost everyone to insanity (or into prison) except Mandy. She tells the duck he is nothing compared to the embarrassment of being around Billy and he disappears. His farting sound was done by Bart Flynn. He was actually one of Grim's nightmares that was realeased into the real world.

Judge Roy Spleen

The Judge of the underworld court. He was voiced by Phil LaMarr.

Pinocchio

The wooden boy-puppet of the fairy tale, but with cannibalistic tendencies. He wants to eat Billy's flesh so that he can become a real boy. He has appeared in the episodes Nursery Crimes and Billy Ocean. He is voiced by Scott Menville.

Uncle Chokey

Behold, Uncle Chocky, once a chicken juggling god, but he gave it all up to be an ordinary farmer.He is also Harold's brother. He was voiced by Bob Joles.

Geppetto

Pinocchio's creator and "father," who would prefer to have a real son. In the episode Billy Ocean he temporarily adopts Billy as his real son, which enrages Pinocchio. He was voiced by Barry Dennen.

The Dinobonoids

Action figures that Billy enjoys playing with that include Tex (a tyrannosaurus with a southern drawl; voiced by Dee Bradley Baker), Lazlo (a stegosaurus who hovers in his own personal flying saucer; voiced by Frank Welker) and Professor Gaylord (the human leader of the Dinobonoids; voiced by Quinton Flynn).

The Jurassic Creeps

Enemies of the Dinobinoids who stole Grim's scythe in the episode Boys Will Be Toys.

J. Lubber

A giant wormlike creature that had a crush on Grim way back in high school. She creates the secret decoder ring contest, so that whoever gets said ring, under the impression that vast riches and so on are in store, would replace Lubber in the mineshaft. She was freed and replaced by Mindy. She is voiced by Charlie Adler.

Dean Toadblatt

The headmaster of Toadblatt's. He hates Nigel Planter with a passion, an possible allusion to Harry Potter's Severus Snape. In one episode, he had dressed up as Lord Voldymort in the hopes of scaring Nigel away from Toadblatt's. However, Mandy was quick to discover this fact. He was originally voiced by Animal House's John Vernon until his death in 2005. In Billy and Mandy The TV Movie and from there on, possibly, he will be voiced by David Warner, who was also the original voice of Nergal.
