The song "Salma Ya Salama" was released in 1977 by Dalida in Egyptian Arabic, then in French. It was the first raï hit in all the world, recorded in four languages, and was merited to the singer with the name of "Singer of Peace" in Egypt that same year.

"Salma Ya Salama" was also an album of Dalida from 1977 with the title song, and other hits.

In addition, "Salma Ya Salama" has been performed by other artists, such as Alabina and Jean-Michel Jarre.

Part of the song is based on an Egyptian folklore song that was sung by various Egyptian artists. The song is about a man wandering in the desert between the dunes, seeing a mirage the whole time of a paradise-like garden.
