Ike Anwhistle

Isaac "Ike" Anwhistle is the now dead husband of Josephine Anwhistle. He had a brother named Gregor, and he was a founder of V.F.D. He was killed when he swam in Lake Lachrymose and was eaten by leeches. Ike was not only Aunt Josephine's husband but her best friend and partner in grammar, and the only person Aunt Josephine knew who could whistle Beethoven's Forth Quartet with crackers in his mouth. Ike was also Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire's second cousin. In The Slippery Slope, there is also a mention that Ike was the one who threw the sugar bowl out the window when the headquarters was on fire into the Stricken Stream.

Gregor Anwhistle

Gregor Anwhistle, the brother of Ike Anwhistle, was the founder of Anwhistle Aquatics, a secret wing of V.F.D., which investigated the effect of the Medusoid Mycelium as a toxin and its possible use as a weapon against Count Olaf's side of V.F.D..

Mrs. Bass

Mrs. Bass is a former teacher from Prufrock Preparatory School. She is unnaturally obsessed with the metric system, with all teaching relating solely to the measurement of random objects, using unusual units such as decimetre and dekagram.

She has recently taken to bank robbery, along with Vice Principal Nero and Mr. Remora.

Her name, like Mr. Remora's, is taken from a fish, the Bass.

Baudelaire Parents

The Baudelaire parents are the deceased parents of the Baudelaire children: Klaus, Violet and Sunny. They were killed in the fire than burnt down their house at the start of The Bad Beginning.

Little else is known about the Baudelaire parents except that the father is named 'Bertrand' and that they may have killed Count Olaf's parents at the theatre with poisoned darts.

Bruce

Bruce is a minor character works as a repo man and acts as a leader of the Snow Scouts.

He first appears briefly in The Reptile Room where near the end he helps move out all of Uncle Monty's reptiles. He isn't seen again until The Slippery Slope where he is the leader of the Snow Scouts. In this book it's revealed that he is the uncle of Carmelita Spats. It is also revealed that Count Olaf cheated him out of Uncle Monty's reptile collection (except for one reptile, most likely the Incredibly Deadly Viper. This was confirmed in the Unauthorized Autobiography, when Lemony recieves the letter from the V.F.D. librarian). Also he might have been invited to Hotel Denouement because after Dewey Denouement was killed, someone named Bruce said that he couldn't sleep with murderers on the loose.

Geraldine Julienne

Geraldine Julienne is a star reporter for The Daily Punctilio and is the person who is acting as an advisor for Eleanora Poe (Mr Poe's sister), advising Mr Poe to ignore all telegrams sent to him. She is star-struck by Esmé Squalor, and as such will do her bidding.

C.M. Kornbluth

C.M. Kornbluth, named after the science fiction writer Cyril M. Kornbluth, was the former chief engineer at V.F.D.. He tended to be very excitable, and good inventions caused him to clap, dance with glee or hand out pistachio nuts at random. He is presumed dead in the fire of V.F.D. headquarters.

Georgina Orwell

Dr. Georgina Orwell is an optometrist and hypnotist who works in the town of Paltryville.

Shown in book the fourth: The Miserable Mill, she supposedly puts Klaus Baudelaire into a trance whereas, the only way that Klaus would obey her is if she said the word LUCKY somewhere before the command was made. The word INORDINATE would be used to cancel the hypnosis, while saying LUCKY again would revitalize the curse.

Dr. Orwell is killed when she is backed into a scrolling sawblade used for cutting wood, and is therefore mutilated before members of V.F.D. and actual lumberjacks.

Dr. Orwell's full name comes from the author George Orwell. George Orwell wrote the book 1984, which talked about Big Brother, a constant theme of which was surveillance, fitting for a person who works with eyes.

Eleanora Poe

Eleanora Poe is the sister of Mr. Poe (Arthur Poe). Eleanora is the editor in chief of the Daily Punctilio, a biased and factually incorrect tabloid newspaper. She is mentioned first in "Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography". The book includes a script showing the dialogue from a conversation she had with her brother at the Anxious Clown (The Wide Window), a restaraunt. Mr. Poe met her to talk with her about the articles printed in her newspaper, although none of this speech is recorded as Eleanora then spotted a V.F.D. member with a microphone. A telegram from her to Arthur is also shown. The telegram states that her star reporter, Geraldine Julienne, has locked her in the basement. The telegram is stamped, "REJECTED."

Mr. Remora

Mr. Remora is a former teacher from Prufrock Preparatory School. He has a large moustache and tend to eat bananas, and tells his class short stories which they then have to remember in great detail.

His name, like Mrs. Bass's, is taken from a fish, the Remora.

Justice Strauss

Justice Strauss is a high court judge who lives next to Count Olaf's castle. The Baudelaires take a liking to her as soon as they meet her and she soon lets them use her library to help with the cooking of Puttanesca Sauce. Her library also comes in handy in the unfoiling of Count Olafs plan to get the Baudelaire fortune. At the mock wedding that Count Olaf sets up, she plays the judge and actually almost marries Violet to the Count (Violet prevents this). At the end of the book, Justice offers to look after the Baudelaires but this is not possible due to legal obligations on the part of Mr. Poe.

It is not clear whether Justice is a member of V.F.D. or not. It is possible, due to the fact that she has a large library, and that one of the disguises is a "Judge Disguise". It is a possibility that she wrote the letter to the Bauldelaires that was signed J.S.

Justice Strauss reappears in The Penultimate Peril. She has been researching the Baudelaire case, and attempts to bring Count Olaf to justice. Unfortunately, her two fellow High Court judges turn out to be Olaf's associates, the man with a beard but no hair, and the woman with hair but no beard and she was telling them the Baudelaires story and they told it to Count Olaf. Olaf kidnaps Justice Strauss and threatens to harm her unless the Baudelaires open the Vernacularly Fastened Door leading to the laundry room of the Hotel Denouement.

Klaus opens the door, but the sugar bowl Olaf is looking for is not inside, and he ascends to the roof to escape, after helping Sunny set fire to the hotel. Justice Strauss attempts to prevent the escape, but Sunny bites her hand so that she lets go. The ending is ambiguous as to whether Justice Strauss actually perished in the hotel fire or not.

The man with a beard but no hair

The man with a beard but no hair and The woman with hair but no beard are mysterious villains who are members of the fire-starting side of V.F.D., and are considered superiors to even Count Olaf. They claim to be distinguished judges in order to rig a trial and take Justice Strauss hostage.
