psychedelic music

Acid rock is a style of rock music from the late 1960s and early 1970s, popularised by performers such as Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. It is closely related to progressive rock, the major difference between the styles being that Acid Rock has a demonstrable grounding in blues and soul, while "prog" tended towards a classical or folk base.

The style features long solos by instrumentalists - often approaching virtuoso complexity . The lyrics, while they may not have been written with the aid of hallucinogens (the "acid" of the title relates to LSD), might make more sense with the aid of such substances.
