The Chicago Tribune Silver Football is awarded to the college football player determined to be the Most Valuable Player of the Big Ten Conference. The award has been presented annually since 1924, when Red Grange of Illinois was the award's first winner.

The winner of the Silver Football is determined by a vote of Big Ten coaches, the Big Ten Conference office, and the Chicago Tribune staff.
