Helmholtz theorem
Two different theorems due to Hermann von Helmholtz are commonly referred to, by the scientific community, as Helmholtz theorem.
- The most well-known is also called fundamental theorem of vector calculus or Helmholtz decomposition.
- The less well-known is a theorem of classical mechanics, according to which thermodynamic-like equations hold in one-dimensional systems, see Helmholtz theorem (classical mechanics).
- In addition, there exist two Helmholtz's theorems in fluid mechanics.
