Pope Benedict XIV wearing the camauro

A camauro is a cap traditionally worn by the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Camauros are red with white ermine trim and are worn in place of the biretta.

The camauro fell into disuse after the reign of Pope John XXIII, but its use was revived in 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI.
