Uinta County is a county located in the State of Wyoming. As of 2000, the population is 19,742.

Geography

The county has a total area of 5,407 km2 (2,088 mi2). 5,391 km2 (2,082 mi2) of it is land and 15 km2 (6 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 0.28% water.

Demographics

As of 2000, there are 19,742 people, 6,823 households, and 514,454 families residing in the county. The population density is 4/km2 (10/mi2). There are 8,011 housing units at an average density of 1 persons/km2 (4 persons/mi2). The racial makeup of the county is 94.32% White, 0.11% African American, 0.87% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 2.86% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. 5.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 6,823 households out of which 44.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.20% are married couples living together, 9.90% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 24.60% are non-families. 20.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.31.

In the county, the population is spread out with 33.50% under the age of 18, 9.00% from 18 to 24, 29.20% from 25 to 44, 21.40% from 45 to 64, and 7.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 103.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.30 males.
