In those cases where two or more brands from different countries bear the same name, the one mentioned is the original one (e.g., Montecristo is listed under Cuba, although there exists a Dominican and a Mexican brand with the same name).

- Cohiba - named so after the native Cuban word for the verb "to smoke". This famed brand was Fidel's choice in the 70's and 80's. Initially developed by Avelino Lara now of Graycliff in Nassau.

- Montecristo - named in honour of Alexandre Dumas, from his novel The Count of Monte Cristo. The brand's logo includes swords (epées) like the ones employed by the King's men in The Three Musketeers, also a Dumas novel.
- Partagas - after company founder Don Jaime Partagas.
- Punch - named after the British humour magazine.
- Romeo y Julieta - the name comes from the Spanish translation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
- San Cristobal de la Habana - this was the original name of the city of Havana when it was founded by the Spanish.
- Sancho Panza - the name comes from a character in Miguel de Cervantes' Don Quixote.
- Vegas Robaina - named after Alejandro Robaina. A vega is a tobacco plantation in Cuba. The only Cuban cigar named after a living person.
- H. Uppman - one of the least expensive, high-quality cigars in Cuba. Both the choice of Ernesto "Che" Guevara and Fidel Castro.
- Trinidad - originally available in only one size (the Fundador), now four vitolas are available.
- Arturo Fuente - after the founder of the company.
