Chandrabindu (often spelled Chandrabindoo) is one of the first bands to emerge from the New Wave in West Bengali music. Though the title of first Bangla Band in epar Bangla(West Bengal in India) is usually given to Mohiner Ghoraguli, they came long before the popularisation of Bangla Bands, lone rangers in a hostile enviorment. But the recent flourishing of Bangla Bands in West Bengal was heralded by Chandrabindu, a name that both refers to the last charecter in Bengali Alphabet and to an immortal dialougue from the nonsense masterpiece, HaJaBaRaLa by Sukumar Roy.

The band is known for its witty, satirical, colloquial lyrics laced with a twisted humor. However critics say the lyrics are shallow or even hollow and the singing very bad.
