One of two varieties of conglomerate rock defined by texture.

A framework supported rock that consists primarily of gravel sized grains (~256 mm) and less than 15% matrix grains (<2 mm, ie. Sand and finer particles).

In a rock type such as orthoconglomerates, were the matrix to be removed, the rock would remain intact. This is because the gravel sized grains are in tangential contact with one another and support the rock, or the framework of the structure.
