Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: Vandalism by multiple sock accounts. Earlier attempts to block the IP originating the attacks temporarilly slowed the vandalism, but the vandal(s) have worked around the IP blocks. One week semi-protection should be enough to get us past the elections. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 14:05, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent and ongoing vandalism by multiple IPs and sock accounts (same ones as involved with the Fox News Channel vandalism). One week semi-protection should be enough to get us past the elections. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 14:05, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: The article is yet again being repeatedly vandalized. -- Luke4545 (talk) 11:54, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. SoWhy 14:32, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect Persistent vandalism edits by IP users on the article. Has had semi-protection several times before, and the problems have always continued almost immediately. --Jhattara (Talk · Contrib) 10:04, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. SoWhy 14:29, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary semi-protection Vandalism, Seems to have attracted an unusually high number of IP edits in the last week. A couple of days protection may help deter some of them..Darrenhusted (talk) 10:00, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. SoWhy 14:28, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary semi-protection, say, a month or three? I placed some tags on this article a few months ago( and moved them to apply to a section when the intro was patched up), and a dynamic IP anon keeps removing them( with no attempt to address the concerns, and usually without an edit summary) even when replaced - it has taken the form of a long, slow edit war. I think a few months should be long enough for the tags to be dealt with, provided they can actually remain on the page without anonymous removing them. Blocking anonymous is not viable given the dynamic IP. If the user wishes to continue reverting s/he will have to register an account, and maybe this can be talked out on that account’s talk page. The article has previously been protected for 3 days and 1 week, in each case the vandal merely resumed as soon as the protection expired. --WikidSmaht (talk) 09:36, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. SoWhy 14:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

temporary full-protect A fork of the TWiki project is under way, and the departing party is adding advertisements for their fork WP:SOAP and cite an event that is not covered by the press WP:NOT#JOURNALISM. Edit wars are expected. Could you please protect the page for 2 weeks? Thank you. -- User:PeterThoeny - 07:10, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Objective information only is being added - User:PeterThoeny is constantly undoing any edits because the situation reflects badly on him personally and on his company. See Talk:TWiki. 130.195.86.40 (talk) 07:40, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war in progress - could this be given urgent attention please? 130.195.86.40 (talk) 07:52, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with 130.195.86.40, please expedite the lock. This user is removing refactoring work on "Projects inspired by TWiki and TWiki forks", which is written in NPOV. -- User:PeterThoeny - 08:17, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The 'refactoring' is just a blatant removal of objective content that reflects negatively on the user in question. That said... it would be nice to have a decision fast on this - one of us is clearly wrong here, and we each think it is the other.130.195.86.40 (talk) 08:23, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. SoWhy 14:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection - Vandalism by 65.254.165.214 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), possibly as a statement. Three times vandalized by this user alone hours ago. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 02:50, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Skier Dude (talk) 05:37, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can you put it on a longer block? That article is really a big hot bed for vandalism for months after its semi-protection. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 08:28, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protect Persistent vandalism edits by IP users on the article, such as deleting many sections and adding un-constructive informations to the article continuously, definitely needs protection as it is an important article of a country. Mohsin (talk) 18:51, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

unprotection It has been protected for months. I think it is safe to unprotect now. Pretty sure that the vandalism to this page has been forgotton about. 216.93.231.149 (talk) 01:46, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined This article has a long history of widespread anonymous vandalism. Perhaps another admin would like to supervise unprotection? —EncMstr (talk) 06:59, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

New Future-class tracking functionality as per requested diff in the talk page. Thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 20:22, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
