St. Mary's High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Lynn, Massachusetts. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston.

Background

St. Mary's High School was established in 1881. [1] St. Mary's officially incorporated in 2006 and instituted a new governance structure with a head of school, principal, and twenty-member Board of Trustees. Dr. Raymond A. Bastarache '65 is currently serving as Head of School. The school's principal is Carl A. DiMaiti.

Extra-Curricular Programs

Students at St. Mary's participate in a variety of sports, clubs and other extracurricular activities. Its various clubs include Chorus, College Bowl, Dance Team, Mock Trial, National Honor Society, Science League, Student Admissions Team, Student Council and Yearbook. St. Mary's Science League team found recent success in the 2007-2008 school year, with many first place finishes, their best year in school history. St. Mary's also has a Drama Club, which performed "Anybody for Tea?" at this year's Massachusetts High School Drama Guild Festival. The performance garnered more praise than most productions over the past few years. The Drama Club also holds an annual Spring Musical, its most recent production being this year's performance of The Wizard of Oz, and its most successful show to date, last years performance of Annie.

St. Mary's has a long and storied athletic program, one of the most dominant and renowned on the North Shore. Its teams include:

Of prominent note, the St. Mary's Girls Ice Hockey team went a perfect 2007-2008 season never losing a game, ending with a State Championship Title.

Class of 2008

Members of the Class of 2008 were accepted into some of the top colleges and universities in the United States including Boston College, Boston University, Cornell University, Harvard University, New York University, Northeastern University, the University of Chicago and the University of Vermont. In total, the 158 students earned more than $2.5 million in scholarship and financial aid assistance.

Miscellaneous

Students are also encouraged to participate in Christian service activities, such as Rachel's Challenge, Sant' Edigio, and assisting at My Brother's Table, a local food pantry.
