Cher is a self-titled album that was released in 1987, after a number of less successful albums, and is the singer's nineteenth record. It helped put Cher back into the charts and the limelight again. It was the first commercial success of her rock music era. After previously having performed mostly pop songs, she had now moved into the genre of radio friendly rock that was popular at the time. A number of well known people composed and/or produced songs on the album, including Diane Warren, Desmond Child, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Bolton, and Richie Sambora. 'Cher' was certified platinum in February 1992 in the US by RIAA.
