Happiness is the Road is Marillion's 15th studio album.
A double album(released as two individual CD's) the initial release was only available to those who pre-ordered the special edition (the proceeds of the pre-order were used to finance the recording and promotion of the album). The tracklisting was revealed on July 30, 2008.[1][2][3]
The first single released ("Whatever Is Wrong With You") was released as a download, and fans were asked to enter a competition to make their own video to the track. Videos are to be uploaded to YouTube and the video with the most views by 1st December 2008 will win £5000. In addition, there will be a further £5000 prize for the video judged by the band to be the best.[4]
Marillion initially made the album available for free on peer-to-peer files. When the tracks were first played, a pop-up box appeared, allowing listeners to give the band their email address. This was used to contact downloaders with offers on Marillion merchandise.[5]
The album artwork was created by a Spanish artist named Antonio Seijas.
