New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc is a Pentecostal Holiness church based out of Graham, Washington.

History

New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc, often referred to as NTCC, was incorporated in 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri, as a schism from the Pentecostal Church of God (PCG) of Joplin, Missouri. NTCC was founded by a former PCG missionary to the Philippines, R.W. Davis, who withdrew after observing an erosion in the "holiness standards," (personal convictions or practical commitments) in the PCG, and after his request for the PCG to establish a Bible College in St. Louis was denied. He had served in the Philippines for four years.

The original name of the church was New Testament Church of God from 1969-1987. For about five years the church was involved with the Independent Pentecostal or "Free Holiness" movement. However, NTCC chose to adopt a much more liberal stance on the issue of divorce and remarriage, which distanced them from that group. The church leadership eventually permanently severed their fellowship ties with all outside churches and ministries. Davis founded Midwestern Bible Institute, later known as New Testament Christian College, and currently known as New Testament Christian Seminary. The church became yet more ingrown, requiring that only their own seminary graduates may be licensed to minister in their churches.

New Testament Christian Seminary is a non-accredited training school, and accepts no government funds. The great majority of the church organization's outreach programs are to operate "servicemen's homes" outside of several dozen military bases in the USA, Germany, Panama, and the Far East. For a fee, they provide unmarried soldiers with an alternative to barracks life. Excess of 75-80% of New Testament Christian Seminary alumni are young military converts.

In 1984, New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc's denominational headquarters was moved to Graham, Washington, southeast of Tacoma. New Testament Christian Seminary operated in St. Louis for over 15 years, but in the late 1980s its operations and dormitories were also relocated to Graham, Washington. NTCC has campground facilities in northeastern Missouri, near Paris, since 1990.

New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc has always experienced a high attrition rate among its ministry and membership, and in 2004 they experienced a sizable schism when a segment of their ministers withdrew and formed House of Prayer Christian Church which is comprised of military-oriented churches and based in Hinesville, Georgia. As of October 2008, the church has less than 3,500 constituents (excluding licensed ministers, ordained ministers, seminary students, and their respective families) and not more than 120 churches/preaching points. However, they were ranked as the fifth most active topic thread among hundreds of religious groups on FACTNet, which is a counter-cult Internet bulletin board.
