Petrus Schaesberg (Petrus Graf Schaesberg) (1967-2008) was a German art historian, artist, editor and teacher. He earned his Ph.D. (summa cum laude) at Munich’s Institute of Art History, Ludwig Maximilian University, in 2004 and taught at the Institute of Art History at Munich University. Schaesberg was an adjunct professor in the Art History department at Columbia University. He died on Sept 22, 2008 in New York City

Schaesberg’s book, Das Aufgehobene Bild discussed collage as a mode of painting — from Pablo Picasso to Richard Prince.
