James Irvin (fighter)
James "The Sandman" Irvin (born September 12 , 1978) is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes as a light heavyweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is a former World Extreme Cagefighting heavyweight champion.
Irvin knocked out Houston Alexander in 8 seconds at UFC Fight Night 13 with a superman punch, tying the record for the fastest knockout in the UFC. He was supposed to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 85 in London, England but Irvin sustained a foot injury that forced him to pull out and Evans was removed from the card as well.[1] Irvin was annihilated by UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva in a light heavyweight main event on July 19th.
Irvin tested positive for methadone and oxymorphone, after his fight with Anderson Silva.[2]
