Adminship

I hope to be nominated or nominate myself for adminship in about a month, when I will have been active on Wikipedia for 6 months. I believe I am fair in disputes and acheive NPOV, and that my record shows that I can be trusted with the additional powers and responsibilities that accompany the position. I revert vandalism and spam frequently and would like the use of both rollback and banning features. DDerby | Talk 18:07, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

Articles I participate in maintaining:

Detroit Pistons - Patrick Henry College - Michael P. Farris - Purcellville, Virginia - Home School Legal Defense Association - Flint, Michigan - Flushing, Michigan - Swartz Creek, Michigan - Lennon, Michigan - Venice Township, Michigan - Clayton Township, Genesee County, Michigan

see Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. counties, Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities, and Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. special districts to help you edit geographical articles. DDerby 00:25, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Articles that receive a lot of vandalism

2005 (and various day of the year entries) - this article is vandalized regularly, in addition to attracting some not-quite-relevant entries like breakups of somewhat notable bands.

Good Charlotte

Napoleon Dynamite

External spam links are a growing problem on Wikipedia. Some of my criteria for spam removal are:

  1. If anyone posts similar links to more than two articles, it is spam and can be removed. See edits by Special:Contributions/Danjwp. Such a person can be called a "linkspammer."
  2. If a link goes to a subpage of a generic site, the link may be removed as spam if the subpage is not extremely useful and original. For example, links to drumscore.com such as The Killers Drum Kit Scores (note that I removed these because of criteria #1, not #2). To comment on this, see Wikipedia talk:Spam#External links criteria.

Marketing in particular receives lots of spam links.

Created articles

To create or do:

Mott Community College, the main community college in Flint.

Saginaw River - for information, see Flint River (Michigan)

Shiawassee River, Tittabawassee River, Cass River - may be a long time before these are created; informal request to create once Saginaw River is done.

Crim Festival of Races, annual 10 mile and other races in Flint.

change links from King James Bible (redirect page), KJV (redirect page) to King James Version of the Bible.

My alter ego, Usor:quaerenssapientiam, has created Latin translation stubs of Patrick Henry College and Purcellville, Virginia.

List of films that provide accurate and revealing looks at world affairs

Americans should watch these films because they are often too. And because they're all good.

Major props

RickK was an awesome editor, a voice of reason and a dam standing firm against the crap that finds itself into Wikipedia every day. I miss him. DDerby 06:08, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
