Celltop Celltop is a mobile application, based on the widget concept, that makes it easier for mobile users to discover content on a mobile phone. Each cell (widget) is a small application that does one simple task, for example, a stock cell renders updates of your preferred stocks. Mobile users can have any number of cells on their mobile phones – one for each type of content, say sports, news, weather and entertainment. They can combine and arrange cells in their preferred order to get an entirely personal and enjoyable experience. A mobile phone typically comes loaded with default cells; however, users can easily download new cells from the network. Information on cells is always updated, even if the cells are inactive. Celltop stores a user’s location and preferences and keeps updating relevant cells constantly. A user can get updated information instantly. For example, if the user has not used the sport’s cell for a while, only a few clicks will present the latest score of his or her favorite sport.

Celltop creates an environment, on mobile phone, similar to that of desktop. Celltop provides simple navigation in the face of expansive content, bringing users immediate updates on the topics of their choice. Celltop screens provide a shortcut to users’ top content, from personal stocks to the SMS inbox, from local weather to the latest news updates. Unlike other content-centric interfaces, Celltop provides direct access both to external content and traditional handset functionality, an integration that marks a major evolution in handset applications.
