The Rockstar Mayhem is a new touring metal and rock festival to take place during July and August. The festival is expected to be a yearly event, in the vein of Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest or Korn's Family Values tour. The difference between Ozzfest and Mayhem Tour being that Ozzfest will host more metal bands and Mayhem Tour will host more Top 40 hard rock bands[1]. For the first year at least, the Rockstar Mayhem tour will be sponsored by the Rockstar energy drink. It is being assembled by Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, and by John Reese (who is Lyman's partner on the Taste of Chaos tour[2]).
Confirmed festival participants
Main Stage
Jagermeister Second Stage
- Machine Head
- Walls of Jericho
- Black Tide
- Suicide Silence
- The Red Chord
- Five Finger Death Punch
- 36 Crazyfists
- Airbourne
- Jagermeister Battle of the Bands Winner
Due to several lineup changes it is unclear if a third stage will be included in the tour anymore, and what the official order bands will be. This lineup depicts the main stage as found in a press release, and a second stage sponsored by Jagermeister with the lineup as seen on the official website. It should also be noted that this is subject to change when more information becomes available about the tour. However, the presence of a third stage is high likely, considering that the band Black Tide has had a history of drama with Jagermeister sponsored stages, as they were removed from the Jagermeister stage on the 2007 Ozzfest. This was because of the age of the bandmembers, as Jagermeister was worried about links to underage drinking.
Possibilities of other bands to be included
Although the press release for the tour has already revealed the stages and band lineup, the March 2008 issue of Alternative Press lists Trivium and Unearth in addition to a majority of the above bands as confirmed for the tour.[3] Since the magazine was released after the press release, this leads to the possibility of more bands being added to the tour. Additionally, for a short time the band Underoath was added to the lineup of the tour's official website, but has since been removed.
Sevendust Pulls Out of RMT
Sevendust has pulled out of its participation in this summer's inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, according to Blabbermouth.net. A statement released by the band indicated that it canceled its involvement in the tour "due to changes in (the group's) touring schedule." Sevendust has recently announced that they will be headlining a tour this summer with Saliva. The Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, featuring headliners Disturbed and Slipknot, is scheduled to kick off on July 9th in Seattle and will hit 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada between early July and late August.
While there is speculation that Sevendust could have been asked to join the competing Ozzfest, that long-running touring metal package is now rumored to be morphing into a two-day "destination festival" in Dallas. There has been no official word yet on what format Ozzfest will take or who will be on the bill. It is also unclear if Mayhem is looking for a replacement for Sevendust.

Other bands will also use this tour as promotions for their new albums, as 36 Crazyfists has The Tide and Its Takers coming out in the summer as well. In addition to catching their favorite bands live, fans can take part in a number of festival activities, including playing the newest video games, perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions and a slew of other interactive activities that will add to the festival experience.[6] ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK will be sampling their products and providing great surprises for attendees. Additional sponsors include Jägermeister, HOT TOPIC and The DiNGSTORE.com (Device Personalization Company). FUSE Television and Revolver Magazine (who will produce the Official Tour Program) have signed on as official Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival media partners. Live Nation is set to promote the festival nationally.[7] JÄGERMEISTER Director of Strategic Marketing Rick Zeiler, “Jägermeister has long been looking for a tour like Mayhem. We have this beautiful new million-dollar Jägermeister Mobile Stage and see no better place to roll it out than Mayhem with some of the biggest rock and metal bands in the world. This tour has integrity, value and most importantly...loyalty! Working with Kevin Lyman and John Reese has been great.”[8]
